How long should you go without driving your car?

As of now I dont have to drive my car but when I want to. I like to drive it every weekend but sometimes its crappy outside and raining or what not or just damn cold. How long can I go without driving it without worrying about the gas going bad, or needing to do some special stuff to keep it in good shape etc etc?

The gas thats in it has been in it for nearly three weeks and im on 3/4 or a tad less. I drove the car both saturday and sunday last week.

Re: How long should you go without driving your car?

did a quick search and pretty much seen this as the typical answer

Quote:
Gas stays good for about 6 months. After that it is still good but not as efficient and if you have a new car you really should water it down so to speek. Fill the tank or add at least 10-15$

If you tank is full of it, through a bottle of injector cleaner in and drive out about 10-15$ so you can put some fresh gas in.

Re: How long should you go without driving your car?

i've always heard a general rule of thumb was to crank it every so often and just let it get warm... about once a month. Its better of coarse to actually drive the car, but thats supposed to keep the seals good and conditioned.

new cars may be different, that rule came from the days of carboration everything.

drive it everyday, and drive it hard. thats the only way to do it even if you have 50 cars

Yeh brandon, I'd recommend at least letting it fully warm up every 3-4 weeks to make sure everything continues to fully operate.
You can't tell me here in a few months when it warms up you're not gonna drive the cobra around though.

Re: How long should you go without driving your car?

I would say it would be fine for starting once every month and drive around for a few minutes atleast to allow everything to work properly and make sure everything is well oiled i.e. seals and gaskets.

Re: How long should you go without driving your car?

the only problem by letting a car sit is the whole battery life situation by starting a car and not moving it the battery cycle is going through and can kill/drain a batteries life quicker. just remember to disconnect the battery if your not gonna drive it for like a month plus

Re: How long should you go without driving your car?

When i wrecked mine it sat for 3 months while it was being fixed still had the same 3/4 tank in it when i got it back.I then drove it 160 miles home so you wont have a problem with your gas.
