You got that right !!!! Ford needs to go private that will allow ford to rebuild itself without investment bankers (also known as People Who Have Never Done Anything Constructive In Their Entire Lives Except Live Off The Labor Of Others) Hell Ford family already owns 40% of the stock Time to start buying up the other 60%

make crappy cars, and you make crappy profits.

though most those losses in the report are from the price of restructuring and cutting off all the fat. they are planning on losing another 10B by the time 09 comes around.

Thats bs. Modern American cars are very nice and will last forever if you keep up with them. The rumors of American cars still having quality problem for the most part is just ricer, and magazine talk. But I'm sure may people think this is true, or Ford would be selling more cars.

BTW what is UAW.

And the pay structure they force you to have...like paying guy a with 4 days experience similar money as guy b with 40 years experience...then the benefits...then all the other BS cost companies like lawsuits for firing someone for being drunk at work...yadda yadda...

Unions are the devil these days...

Re: Ford Loses a MUSTANG A MIN

Well idk about you guys, but my family worked for ford. they closed the plants here. My best friends grandpa still works for ford till he retires after 40 years of service. I dont think its more of get what u pay for.. People tend to sell there cars after 5 years if they buy it new. so why would ford drop the price when they can make money off that first year? My dad still has his first car, a 1965 ford. my great grandpa (that retird from ford MOCO) bought it brand new, then my grandpa had it till my dad turned 16. btw it still runs like new. my mustang has 140,000 miles and sounds worse then the 65 does. people want plastic, plastic that comes from other countrys. thats one other reason why my job closed (at the machine company) the companys didnt want to pay american price for a job thay can have done in china or mexico for 1/4 of the price.

At the end of the day... someone who bolts a door on a car is NOT worth 20 dollars an hour... im sorry but there is not that much expeience needed to do such things... they pay some of those people FAR to much for what they do....

Thats true, and the reason for that is because ford would rather pay for it from china for a 1/4 of the cost for the mere fact that they need to cover their expenses on all the benefits and wages they have to pay the greedy union workers. Then of course they have to pay the vacation time which is a rediculous amount compared to other jobs... because if they dont, then the workers strike, then theres no money. Its just a giant circle with unions. I cant stand them, they're not good for the economy, and they cause prices to be increased on products to cover all the greedy workers expenses.

Ford workers are whats killing ford... I stand by that.

Re: Ford Loses a MUSTANG A MIN

How much are current UAW auto industry wages?

As of the second quarter of 2003, a UAW-represented assembler earns $25.63 per hour of straight time. A typical UAW-represented skilled-trades worker earns $29.75 per hour of straight time. Between 1992 and 2002, inflation-adjusted real wages for UAW-represented autoworkers increased by 13.5 percent. This is a compounded annual pay increase, after inflation, of 1.28 percent.

Re: Ford Loses a MUSTANG A MIN

Paying pension plans for years and years of retirees doesn't help much, either. In 2003 they paid almost a billion dollars in pension costs. No telling how much they payed on '06.
