Unhappy the baby is down...

well, i was turning left to get onto the on ramp and a guy was turnin right onto the ramp, merging with me onto the on ramp.
so instead of doing anything with this:

he decided to keep going and do this:

all of the jams on the right side are all over the fawkin place. the whole front area and supporting structures that were even close to the bumper and side panel are broken free. my mirror is scratched up and my side scoop looks like someone took a rake to it. i only got like a mile away from my work, so i turned around and creeped there at like 5 mph. all the way, the car was pulling all over the road and something was squellin like the skretch pads on the brake pads. we werent movin fast at all, maybe 10mph? at most. so it was 110% his fault, so i shouldnt really have to pay *****. but im just fawked over for a while until this :bs: gets worked out. so now i have to worry about gettin back n forth to work so i dont have to put the rest of my family out of a car....so...

that sucks hardcore... the advice I can give is get it done by someone that does top notch work even if you have to pay extra for it.

Re: the baby is down...

Just let the dealership do the work for it, his insurance will pay.
Also, insist on a rental car, you have to have one to not be a hardship on your family.

I'd also stay in touch with whomever is doing the work on the car and insist you get all new parts, no refab stuff. You want only new or a new car.

Re: the baby is down...

dam that sucks, and you just got that car recently.

and yeah, just take it wherever the insurance company says.

though if the door jambs are really as messed up as you say they are, be prepared for the possibility it could get totaled out........

Re: the baby is down...

its really just the right side, i mean i didnt inspect the left side. but the engine is completly fine, the only thing that could have happened to it was a decent jar, thats it. i mean i hate to say it, but id almost be better off if they would total it. but i doubt they will. its got to be atleast 7-8k worth of damage. and yea, i just got the car 1 month ago and i havent even payed my first monthly payment on it yet. i also took off of work tomorrow (wed) to make sure i get all the calls in and all that fun stuff.

Re: the baby is down...

how much did you get it for and how much is the loan on it?

they wont total it untill the amount that it costs to repair is like 1000$ below or over the amount of the loan.

you got GAP insurance right?

i do 911 and i can answer that....when you call from a cell phone it gets transfered to the state 911 tower, then its transfered to a local tower, which is then transfered to the 911 location. all of the rings you hear are the transfers, when we get the 911 call, it barely rings once, but on your end, it can ring up to 10 times.

are you sure you don't live in Houston? that's the way the idiots drive here. as you exit the insterstate, the morons on the feeder roads are supposed to yield. instead they speed up and pace you. so now ya'll understand why i drive fast. it's to keep me away from people like that. sorry to hear about your run in with the idiot, maximus. from the looks of it, that can be fixed. just be very particular of the work before you leave the lot. don't take it if anything doesn't look right.

Re: the baby is down...

my loan is for like 16k and no i didnt get GAP. they wont total the car, not enough damage. so the guys insurance company called me today and said they would be taking care of everything and for me to get a rental. good to know bout the 911 call tho. but the repairs should be good, everything done to the vehicle is covered for life, so if something isnt right they should be ale to do it again until it is. the frame shouldnt be bent, but its very well possible it is. there was little pieces of fender and support structure pieces all over the road. and with the way he hit me, it knocked my headlight out and launched it atleast 30yds up the road. thought that was kinda interesting.

Good, he has good insurance at least. Most of the time insurance companies are a pain to deal with.

You can get your parents to sign for the rental or whomever you might live with that is over 21. It will work. I've done it before.

just drive one of your parents cars and let them take the rental. That's what we did when a guy totaled my brother's car.

I had a similar problem when I was 18 and got in a wreck. I can't remember how I eventually got the rental car. I think like Lowflyn said though.

I believe you can work it out with them if you want, I did when I needed a rental at one point.
