Radar Detector

Well, I have always been a big proponent of the Valentine 1 radar detector. However, after reading this Passport 9500i - An Inside Look - Escort Inc. I think I might look into getting an escort now. This thing, if it works as stated, will be leaving the V1 in the dust. Although, I guess I should check at anything new in V1 land, but I don't think they have really added anything in a while.

Anyhow, check that thing out. GPS integration, auto volume based on noise levels, hot spot reminders...that thing is bad ***.

Re: Radar Detector

Meh i have the V1 and my buddy has the Passport (their last release) we both got our radars like 2 years ago

honestly the thing doesnt warn him fast enough. He has gotten at least 5-6 tickets he doesnt like and has been trying to sell it.

Me on the other hand (knocks on wood) have gotten only 1 thats cause I couldnt see where the hell the cop was hiding at who woulda thunk he be hiding in some bushes on a hill off the highway...seriously now

Id never trade my V1 well maybe for a K40 I would

Re: Radar Detector

I had an 8500 for a few years. It really worked well for me. We're not allowed to use 'em on base, so when I got this job I sold mine on eBay. Spent $300 on it, used it for two or three years, sold it for $200. Not a bad deal, if you ask me.

I need one, one down side around here is they will pace you a lot. (Wont use a radar, just stay 2-6 cars behind you and watch your speed while u cant see them)

Re: Radar Detector

You can ask to see the officers radar... if they pace you, they've got nothing to prove your speed. I write crap like this down on the backside of my tickets, and have the cop sign it stating all the above is true. He writes **** and makes you sign something, you can do the same thing.

They have to show you the radar in Alabama. If they say "I clocked you at xx speed" they must show you the radar.
