Went and looked at some new Shelbys today

Went and looked at a Shelby GT and GT500 today. The GT500 was a Tungsten Gray convertible and the GT was black with gray racing strips and black wheels. Both of these cars look much better in person than they do in a picture.

BTW I just learned that the British spell grey and American's spell gray.

Re: Went and looked at some new Shelbys today

Sorry I don't go around with my camera, and they don't have them listed on their website. The GT500 was priced really high at exactly $75,000 and the GT was a little less than $44,000.

I think the GT is priced pretty good when compared to others I've seen, but yes the GT500's are selling for much cheaper than that right now.

I really really like the idea of a lesser priced shelby.... but NOT a rebadged GT.... pretending to be worthy of the shelby name... that was a lame thing for ford to do.

Re: Went and looked at some new Shelbys today

A Shelby GT is a better all around car than a Mustang GT, but you can give a GT the Shelby GT's performance for not alot of money. Still a Shelby GT is a very attractive car in person, except for the ugly stock Mustang GT wheels. Know that was cheap. BTW for the MSRP of $35,000 I don't think its priced to bad at all, a Mustang GT can be priced at over $31,000 MSRP with all the options. The $43,895 or whatever it was is after the markup.

That looks exactly like the one I saw. The sticker was nowhere near that high though. Maybe the GT cap wasn't replaced because its a Shelby GT.

Exactly, You'd think it would be some sort of Shelby GT cap not the run of the mill Mustang GT caps. I just figured Ford would plaster the Shelby name everywhere they could. Surprised me, thats all.

seriously dealers need to be given an ultimatum : stop with the price gouging, or they don't get to sell the cars

Re: Went and looked at some new Shelbys today

That is down right outrageous to charge 50,000 dollars for a GT with Shelby on it.

Anyone think of a way that we can pressure Ford dealerships to stop this? The power of the internet is at our disposal

Re: Went and looked at some new Shelbys today

the Shelby GT is a let down.... its a GT that looks a bit different WTF.... They should have made the Shelby GT handle much much better then it would have at least had something.

Re: Went and looked at some new Shelbys today

everything shelby has done with the 05 style is a letdown IMO, its just rebadged someone elses work. the Shelby GT is just a freaking GT with bullitt wheels and some racing stripes and some boltons/tune.

not really, the car is gonna sell no matter what they charge, it might take longer, but someone is gonna pay that 50k for it. the dealership can either do two things, they can rape and sit on the car a bit longer, or mark it down and let it go cheap and not make much profit from it.

No, because there are always stupid people with money that believe all the hype...just like the morons buying a bloated GT with a bigger engine and think it is worthy of a $25+k markup...or worth $45k to begin with without the markup.

Add roush/shelby/saleen/steeda/etc before mustang and automagically it is worth stupid amounts of money....to stupid people anyhow....even for plain ole rebadged GTs.

Re: Went and looked at some new Shelbys today

The Shelby GT is not a bad deal if you can get it for its MSRP, but no it not worth anything near $50,000. Like I said I looked at one that looks just like the one that that guy posted and the one I saw was selling for $43,895 or something like that and it had over a $7,000 markup.
