Re: My $650 project boat thread.

UPDATE!!

well after a few hard hours of work, I was able to get the motor mount off without pulling the motor, replaced the freeze plug, put it all back together, started it... ran good for a while, then started spewing water from the other side of the motor in the same place

So, I get to do what I just did all over on the other side of the motor cause that freeze plug blew out as well

On the bright side, the motor runs well!

Re: My $650 project boat thread.

You think it could be the head gasket gone? It could be pressurizing the coolant system.

Re: My $650 project boat thread.

nah its just the seals around the freeze plugs corroded away and when water is a little pressurized in there its popping them out. Probably due to water that froze in the block, and pushed those out instead of cracking my block... which is a very good thing.

Also have no water in the oil, so head gaskets and block seem to be fine, but i havnt run it long enough to get it to operating temperature because i keep blowing these plugs out

Well i dont know if it was frozen, but im guessing the guy before me didnt winterize it, and im assuming there was probably water in there somewhere.
