so you're basically saying I should wait on the processor until the quads become reasonable? Will I need a different mother board than the one listed? I see ASUS has a quad compatible mother board

get a cheapie processor right now that shares the same socket as a quad core (i think AMD is going with Socket AM2 but not 100% sure on that) that way you dont have to swap out the motherboard when you upgrade to a better processor.

Im on Socket939 and whatever i do next processor wise ill need a new mobo, i doubt any quad core amd's will be 939 especially since the 939 socket mobo's only allow standard DDR ram instead of DDR2 which is on AM2 and most intel socketed boards.

Intel's Quad Processor isn't a true quad processor.

I believe AM3 isn't too far off. I am sure the Quad Cores will support that. First Quad Core comes out in June.

alright, so what mother board is capable to hold a quad core, and a "cheapy" processor? I want a good mother board... but yeah, hopefully one that can do both... and by next fall, a kick *** processor will be here.

Socket AM2 Processors

Socket AM2 MoBo's

all AM2 boards use DDR2 ram which is a bit more expensive than standard DDR cause its better.

Go with the AM2. Trust me a Dual Core AMD will do you good until the Quad's come out. Just grab an 3800 x2 and a decent motherboard with SLI.

Build your machine now. With the parts that are out there now. If you start playing the "wait until this comes out..." game, you'll never build it.

that first mother board seems to have a couple little issues with it? Is that going to be a problem? (it's cheap as hell though)
