New NASCARs?

I'm sitting here watching a replay of the race at Bristol and I couldn't help but notice something. They've got big ricer wings on the back of 'em. It appears to be some kind of "Car of Tomorrow"? Or some **** like that? WTF is with this?

Re: New NASCARs?

I had this discussion on another site. I wouldn't really call any wing ricer as long as it was needed and served its purpose. Also, I wouldn't call the NASCAR cars anywhere near a stock car, so pretty much any change they do to the body can't exactly be referred to as going against a trend and what not.

There are several race cars that use wings and are just as important as the one possibly added to NASCAR. See American Iron Racing Series where the wing is actually bolted/welded halfway down the hatch on a mustang, and all the WRC cars, and so on.

A big black silly looking wing is a ricer wing. I don't give a **** if it works or not.

Re: New NASCARs?

At least they do serve a purpose on NASCARs and arn't being put on a front wheel drive car to "add dowforce" to the back...

I don't have a problem with 'em. They still go insanely fast.

Re: New NASCARs?

They added them at Bristol because the d/f is need there more. I've been to almost all the nascar tracks (my parents are trakies, dumb name but that is what the ppl at the track call themselves=) ) . My dad now calls nascar "hollywood" because it's no longer about the tracks, car, drivers but about the appearance of all of they above. They say the cars now are like "program" cars, and about any tard could drive them. My fam. is really into late model dirt track racing, so we go all over the country to those also, first one in ket. this w/e. should be fun stuff. But those guys, now they are DRIVERS, it's the most exciting racing i've ever seen in my life!

****ing retarded.

the car of tomorrow, ricer looking or not, has faster track times at any track its ran at than the last generation design. all the drivers say its more stable at high speeds and the car has more adjustment abilities than its predecessor. sure it looks like a cobalt, but that wind and front splitter make quite a difference at 150+.

though yeah, i chuckled when i couldnt tell the cobalt pace car apart from the cars behind it.

btw im a big nascar fan if you couldnt tell.

btw you people that say "oh they should race actual stock cars" shut the **** up. seriously. you want to watch stock fusions and whatnot run around a mile circle at 90mph? yeah, what a awesome race! "jeff gordon in the number 24 is almost reaching speeds of 100mph on the straight!" like "wow, i hit that on my onramp everyday, what the ****?"

Re: New NASCARs?

no they are making them faster, and they are. ricers got their winged glory ideas from actual racecars. dont mis-construe them. i mean hell, look at the wing on F1 cars, nobody talks **** about them, even though i see the same wing at pep-boys and on every other civic.......

Re: New NASCARs?

I don't want to see them modify "stock" cars. But it would be nice if there was something left from the factory. Like I dunno.... a ****ing frame?

Re: New NASCARs?

it would slow them down, it would be heavier and less safe when hitting a wall at sub 200mph speeds.

I dont care what they race but .... calling it a Fusion when it has nothing but some sort of mold that resembles a fusion is sad... but they have to market something I guess...

Those turns are the only reason to watch a nascar race...I really like the right turns...

Hold on,....I think there might be a left coming up....

Re: New NASCARs?

when they do make a right turn it usually ends up on sportscenter anyway

crashes are the only thing that make nascar worth being recognized
