Re: Does anyone know anything about blood hounds?

lol, actually they are usually red, black and tan, or grey and red. I meant more like: Do they make good pets (friendly, obedient) or are they better suited as hunting dogs? Any specific health problems with the breed? etc....

Re: Does anyone know anything about blood hounds?

I was being a smart ***... thus, I don't have to be entirely correct

I don't remember them being terribly good "inside" pets.

Re: Does anyone know anything about blood hounds?

not sure, but i know they have amazing noses. you know how they are portrayed in movies and cartoons as tracking down criminals with a scent of a sock or something? yeah, thats true. i saw it on mythbusters.

other than that, i would assume that they would be great dogs. most workin dogs like that are.

Re: Does anyone know anything about blood hounds?

Anyone who would put them in a house is an idiot.

However, they are very loyal. Can be a little dumb in some ways, but very smart in others. They are great watch dogs. If they hear something, you and everyone else in the neighborhood will quickly know about. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes it's just annoying because they can be ridiculously loud.

That said, coon hunting is the ****. I say get one or two.

^ I don't have a big yard, so she would probably be in the house with me alot. I've heard they like to drool though, lol

Re: Does anyone know anything about blood hounds?

I wouldn't put one in the house. They do indeed drool a lot, and depending on the breed, can get a lot bigger than you realize.

Re: Does anyone know anything about blood hounds?

One thing to always remember about a working dog is they were bred to work.

Make a point to work them on occasion and you'll have a much happier dog.

Re: Does anyone know anything about blood hounds?

If I get a dog, it will run with me every day as soon as its big enough.

PS if I get a blood hound, I am naming her Lady Bird, hahaha.

I want to get a lab... like a golden lab, and name it Bisquit. I've always wanted a dog like that.

Re: Does anyone know anything about blood hounds?
