McCain just looks so appealing due to him being mostly moderate. I'm sick of this far right far left crap.

Fred Thompson for Pres!

McCain is a guttless wonder, though I did find the "bomb Iran" reference amusing

I'm not referring to his military history in any way. I've got the greatest respect for that part of his life.

It is the positions he takes politically that I don't like. I think of moderates in that way in general. They rely on polls instead of their own beliefs when forming their positions on the issues.

McCain is a RINO (republican in name only).

We need a Reagan Conservative back in the White House again.

It really isn't a "far right vs far left" thing either. It has become a "republican vs democrat" thing. The republican party is the moderate party and there are very few true conservatives anymore. The democrats have become so far out to the left that they would be funny to watch if they didn't have the majority in congress.

And just because someone has a distinguished service record does not mean that they are beyond reproach.

A moderate is someone who doesn't have the backbone to take a stand on the issues :p

And...McCain is not someone that reads the polls to determine his position. I disagree with him a lot, but, his stance has always been the same on the things I disagree with. He doesn't flip flop all over the place. He says what he thinks to be right and sticks with it.

So, if I believe in the right of a woman to have an abortion, don't believe in gun control, and believe in "hands-off" economics... I don't have the guts to take a stand on the issues?

There's nothing wrong with looking at the issues and making your own decision on each of them, rather than just toeing the party line.

Re: McCain: I'm in dis bish

i've found in life that if you go in like a bull in a china shop and tear **** up, you just have everyone look at you like you are a fool. case in point, our current leadership. or you can take your beliefs and persuade them on people by rationalizing and talking it out. have you every heard the expression, you get more flys with honey than vinegar? you can gain someone's respect by being able to actually compromise on the smaller things in order to gain the bigger issues. no one is right all the time. and no one will win everything everytime. so if that's gutless, then some of the greatest leaders in history were gutless. and that includes Reagan. but good luck convincing me that he was gutless.

Naw, I respect people who stick to their beliefs.

I'm just not a fan of McCain.

I hope Fred Thompson catches on. I like his stance on most issues.

Re: McCain: I'm in dis bish

I don't care who is in there as long as they have a spine on important issues like Shutting down our borders, sticking it to the dems and handling iraq the proper way, and addressing the rediculous rise in "normal" gas prices...

I don't care about abortion. I don't care about homos. I don't even care about the education system. I care about national security...and the money in my wallet.

Leave abortion to the drs. Leave the education system to the state gov'ts. Leave the homo issues to the states as well.

My candidate will handle business and give the PC world a swift kick in the ***.

However, since no candidate on this planet will agree with my stances...I will have to choose the one that "appears" to have integrity...

Re: McCain: I'm in dis bish

I agree on most things there.

I'd like the abortion issue to be decided by the states. I'm a big states rights guy. though I do believe abortion to be inherently unconstitutional as it goes against the "right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"

I guess my biggest issue with McCain is his history of playing it up for the media a bit.

When he did the "gang of #" thing with judicial nominees that really got to me because that was such an important part of getting the legislation out of the hands of the judiciary.

Re: McCain: I'm in dis bish

If anything McCain will have some kind of idea on the border issue since he is a Senator of a state that borders Mexico. He has military history which is always a plus and has stood up for the Iraq war despite the polls saying Americans were against it (so much for being a poll guy).

But his border ideas are to open them up...not shut them down.
