I always watched the gas station that was in front of my house when I was up there. I tell you what I smarten up

Wish that would happen around here

Plus we had an f15 take almost 1800 gallons, an E3 Sentry requested 40,000 lbs of fuel (so 40,000/6.7 lb per gallon, you do the math), not to mention the two C130's and 5 A10s we had that got fuel(not sure what they took). All of this was in one weekend people for a 3 and half our career day. Now imagine the commercial airlines.... I say drive more fly less. Plus there is less restrictions on aircraft than vehicle, and the aircrafts exhaust is released at 30,000 feet where COx's do more damage(I don't believe in global warming per se, but I know this can't be good for the environment). I can understand flying to another continent but come on.

I know this all sounds crazy, and I know it is. People will never be able to ween themselves off flying so much. I understand the military's need, but I'm sure they can do SEVERAL things to reduce their usage of petroleum products.

I read a stat somewhere saying that 10% of petroleum that gets refined is used for automobiles. On the history channel they had an episode about those huge tankers that carry tons of export/import goods and use 250,000 tons of diesel each trip.

There are loads of government/transportation type vehicles using up more fuel and causing plenty of pollution. Yea our environment is great and should be taken care of but the tree huggers need to look at where the majority of the fuel is being used.
I know my comments are pointless and won't change anything, but does anyone else agree?

its not unlike us to put atleast 60-80 gal of diesel into one of our fire trucks...(thats 8 fire engines, 1 heavy rescue, 2 ladder trucks, 1 tanker, and a boat... and hell we are cut back to only idle when its cold (keep the pump on to keep the water moving around) and also one trip to the store a day.. but when we try to get new stuff that runs better and less fuel and safer the public does not want to pay for it out of the tax's ...

Re: no gas

lol, I think I'm right on target to have to buy gas on that day. And if not that day, the day before or after. Hence, it will make no difference.

Also, airplanes cause over 10% of the world's pollution. So, if you want to blame depletion of the ozone layer on something, blame it on the environmentalists all flying to washington to tell us to stop driving our cars around.

You know what... I just ****ing realized it. Gas actually went up almost 10 cents here yesterday, and I bet it's because of those dam "let's not buy gas on such and such day" ****ers.

Re: no gas

i domt blame them. if i ran a company and people were gonna boycott me for a day on something they need, id double the price the day after.

the real way to "Boycott" would be to use less gas weekly over a long period of time. if everyone could find a way to save even 3 gallons of gas weekly, and continue that trend for an entire year, that would change things entirely.
