It's crazy how many Mexicans there are at the AutoZone in Decatur. I call it "Little Mexico".

Re: The *New and Improved* Stupid Customer Daily Update

I went into a local GM dealership and walked up to the parts counter, asked for a couple of bottles of supercharger oil, and a new coupler..

The guy first looked at me like I had 3 eyes then told me they didn't work on supercharged cars.

I asked him if he was serious, and what happened when a car came in that needed warranty work on the supercharger.

He looked at me like I sprouted an ear out of the forehead, then repeated that they don't work on supercharged vehicles.

I looked out the window right in front of him, at a monte carlo angled towards us with 'supercharged' on the rear 1/4, looked back at the parts guy, asked him if they'd work on that car if it broke, he said no... I left

They had at least 5 supercharged cars on their lot...

Re: The *New and Improved* Stupid Customer Daily Update

since i don't have actual customers, here is a call that i got at work

me: "911 where is your emergency"
lady on other end: "i think 911 keeps calling me....PLEASE STOP CALLING ME!!!"
me: "maam 911 can not call you, do you have an emergency?"
lady: "911 is stalking me!"
::me smacking head against desk::
me: maam i assure you that we are not stalking you nor are we calling you.
lady: okay then can i report that my cell phone was turned off?
me: thats not an emergency.
lady: oh then tell 911 to stop calling me
...line goes dead....

i wanted to jump off of a very tall building after that.

Wow...people are idiots, and I bet that the GM guy was thinking of a turbo and not a supercharger. I feel very embarrassed to hear that coming from a GM dealership.

GM makes turbocharged cars, too.

See I know that, but I doubt the guy at the dealership knew that or even knows the difference between the two.

Re: The *New and Improved* Stupid Customer Daily Update

That is a huge aggravation for me and our local Ford dealership. People come into us and get pissed because we don't EVERYTHING about EVERY make of vehicle EVER. You go to a specific dealership to order parts for vehicles they specialize in and they dont ahve a clue. The salesmen only have to be experts on ONE type of vehicle and they generally dont even know the proper name for the color of a car they are trying to sell or what it's power rating is etc.

For example:

I was pricing my Cobra rotors through Ford and they gave me a price of pretty decently below what I had seen elsewhere. Surprised, I made sure they knew I was talking about COBRA rotors (I.E. 13") and they said yes that was what they were showing. SO I had them order them and low and belhold when they arrived, they were just standard GT rotors. So then I had them try "Bullitt" rotors, and they showed a different part number, so I had them order those. Well they were a different rotor, but not 13". Disgusted, I left, again, and just ordered the whole kit online. I mean, come on invest a bit of time or show some interest in the stuff you are trying to sell. What happens when someone with an actual Cobra comes in and needs rotors?

Re: The *New and Improved* Stupid Customer Daily Update

I can just remember trying to order a grill delete back piece when I put the Roush bumper on.

It took me three visits to the dealership with my own part numbers for the guy to understand what I wanted. I would have driven the 30 minutes down the road to the next dealership, but they were closed by the time I could make it there after work. I did have to go through them for my chin spoiler b/c the dealership here just couldn't understand what I wanted.

Re: The *New and Improved* Stupid Customer Daily Update

Well, since I'm now in the service industry...I have one for ya from today.

Background: I got a job with Terminix, training to be a service manager (basically assistant manager). Because of this I have to learn all the positions.

So I spent today riding around with a termite technician working on houses. After we got done with everything around 4 we headed to a house that had called around lunch complaining of ants on the outside and rat turds as it was put. When we called the lady explained the turds were walking turds. She attempted to pick one up and it ran away.....

We get there, find the "walking turds". They ended up being beetles. Then we put down some rat bait traps. She was then worried that the rats would eat the bait and run out in the house and die and get eaten by the cats and the cats would die. We had to explain to her that there is very little chance of that ever happening. When we left she was still mumbling about the cats dying of rat poisoning.

O yeh, the lady also had a cocker spaniel that had to be at least 80 lbs. I looked down and saw a walking pillow coming towards me. The worst part was this thing wasn't fat...it was solid. If ya thumped the side it sounded hollow.

Should be several more of these to come, this is a very entertaining industry.

The only job I've ever had where I worked with the general public was at Office Depot. We probalby didn't get it nearly as bad y'all do in pest control and auto parts (and can definitely imagine how bad it must be). It was still terrible, though. I only lasted about two months.

Well I'm gonna be in this one for a while, I really enjoy it. Just every once in a while you have a problem customer and have to really deal with them. I've been swapping days between doing termite work and pest work. Spent today riding with a commercial pest person, it was pretty interesting.

I'm still trying to figure out one from today, went into a hospital on the 4th floor because they had ants in 1 room. Sure enough, there are fire ants all over the room, but not on the room on either side, above, below, or on the roof outside.

Re: The *New and Improved* Stupid Customer Daily Update

Well, the extremely stupid stuff seems to have subsided lately. We have just been limited to slightly stupid things of late.

Such as:

The person who was unable to read (IE understand) a simple receipt that OMG! had both a credit and a charge on it!!

The person who was unwilling to buy a new power steering pressure line and decided he would just have us cut some hose and get him a couple clamps. The PRESSURE side mind you...

The person who came in asking for performance stuff for his `91 Geo Metro 1.0. But it's the XFi *****es!!

The kid who came in wanting to know if we sold "universal" turbo kits. I told him sadly, that such things do exist but honestly anyone that buys them is a tard. He kinda looked at me funny and then I tried explaining to him all the reasons such an idea would be bad. At that time, I must have suddenly sprouted an extra head and grown a penis out of one of them. He had no clue what half of what I was saying even was/meant and then asked the store manager later if we would be intereseted in sponsoring his car. Rejected, he got in his SOHC saturn and drove off lol. Not even the DOHC as if that would make a big difference.

The guy that about started cussing out another employee when he asked how much parts for a "complete" tune up would be and the employee started pricing spark plug wires. That was apparantly a "go" word in his brainwashing school because he went off and the guy and said "You only replace those if they look bad damnit!".

The guy that always comes in stumbling drunk AND stoned about once a week asking for prices on the same flywheel he has been asking about for nearly 2 months.

The guy that was having problems with overheating and just wanted a higher pressure than stock radiator cap so his GOOD stock pressure cap would not continue to blow off.

The people that look directly at a sale sign and then ask if the item is on sale.

The people that try to return broken parts as new and they just "didn't need them".

The people that CONSTANTLY hand us some sort of Autozone rewards card because they either didn't know what store they were even in or thought they could pull one over on us like we would even be able to do anything with the card anyway. Oh, and the Lowes cards too.

The people that constanly come to US of all places looking for misc. hardware...we're all just like WTF?? We have 4 little spinny racks of bolts and screws and they get pissed when we don't have what they want. We always tell them to go to Lowes because they actually specialize in hardware, they either look at us like we sprouted another head with a dick on it or then ask where another CAR parts store is.

The guy that wants a starter replaced because the flywheel he damaged, naturally caused his new starter to get worn and go bad. If it had been up to me, I would have told him tough ****sky, but our tender hearted (see poonbag) assistant mgr went ahead and swapped it for him because he gave a sob story about how much money he has spent in our store. I pulled a history on the mf'er and he has bought a total of $300 dollars worth of crap, $200 of it has been returned and the remaining $100 was in the starter that he conned the assitant out of.

I could go on and might later.

Re: The *New and Improved* Stupid Customer Daily Update

That's ok, I spent this afternoon fighting bed bugs. Yes, they really exist.

A small campsite around here has a few cabins and one of them is infested. Apparently someone who stayed in it brought them in, b/c for the most part they are eradicated in the US. The cabin is like 12x12 and has wood on the floor, walls, and ceiling. The bugs thrive in warm environment with plenty of small cracks to hide in. Well, it's a "rustic" facility and there are cracks and crevices everywhere. On top of that, there is a twin bed and a bunk bed in there. The mattresses were literally covered with them.

We talked to the owner and told him we recommend destroying the mattresses and that we could take care of that for him if he would like. He gives us some story about how the mattresses only come from montana or something like that. In other words, he's too cheap to buy new mattresses. These are literally crawling with these things. We ended up wrapping them in plastic and removing them from the building.

He then tells us that he has a reservation for that cabin this saturday. We inform him that we strongly recommend he cancels the reservation because of liability issues with him infesting their personal items with bed bugs. He gives some sob story about them having this reservations for months and such.

So, pretty much, if he allows these people to stay in the cabin this weekend, he will for sure be infesting their personal items with bed bugs, and spreading this infestation to their residence once they get home.

We spent a few hours today spraying the thing down and are gonna go back tomorrow and monday to ensure that we rid the cabin of all of them. If he lets people in the cabin, that's his own thing, but I know I'll never stay there.

Re: The *New and Improved* Stupid Customer Daily Update

One would not believe the things we are asked to instal...

Here is the list of things we are allowed to as per store policy and legality:

Wiper blades

Batteries

And not a damn thing else.

This is a list of things that people ask us to install for them:

Starters

Alternators

Oil changes

Any kind of light bulb imagineable. (which is something we do SOMETIMES for little old ladies but retarded otherwise. We aren't your free electrician).

Valve cover gaskets (yes lol)

Water pumps (one instance of this made me audibly chuckle. The guy asked in sort of an under the table way if I would instal his water pump . The car's pump was inside the timing cover BTW to make it even better. It was just funny the way he asked it because he was apparantly under the impression that we are all wanna be mechanics and just sell parts for the fun and massive pay....)

People always ask us to check ALL of their mother humping fuses for them. This one is a particular pet peeve of mine and one I have done only once and have never done since. Like it's any easier for us to check them than it is for you and we at least have other dumb tards in the store to wait on while we go out there and pull 50 fuses for your lazy ***. Half the time it's something like "My left headlight wont work I think it might be my fuse is blown". My...God...your a blooming idiot. Or my radio wont work, or my power windows wont work, or my locks wont work, or my AC wont work or my car wont start or my power steering pump is squeeling (yes, real) or this or that. While sometimes it could be a blown fuse, most of the time there is something else wrong if their even IS a blown fuse for the thing. The fuse might be the easiest/cheapest thing to check but usually the last thing to fail. And then should we find a blown fuse they invariably just want us to get them a bigger amp fuse to replace it......rather than fix the problem that is blowing fuses.

Run and wire trailer connectors.

Install Receiver hitches.

Install bugflectors.

Harmonic balancers.

Spark plugs.

Ignition control modules.

Entire distributors.

Put fluid in their clutch slave cylinders.

Put fluid n there transmissions.

Pour in oil.

Pour in power steering fluid.

Brake fluid.

Freaking rear end oil. If there is a fluid in the car, we get asked to pour some of it in.

Any type of filter possible.

Ball joints.

Belts.

Plug wires.

Gas line.

Pretty much everything you can think of for TEH FREE, we have been asked except for internal engine work. It's amazing to me that people think or even trust/want us enough to be free mechanics for them. They truly must think that we are stupid enough to do this type of work for them for FREE let alone that we would even have the desire to do it. They price what it will cost to get something done and dont want to pay it, so they figure they will just go to the parts store and ask us to do for free.

**** you buddy.

Aww dang it, I knew I shouldn't have posted that one because now I'm mad again. That just infuriates me that he went ahead and exchanged starters for him.

Yesterday we had one of our esteemed customers come in and ask for coil spring spacers for a 98 v6 mustang. Naturally, we did not have them and had no suggestions for helping them find any since the seemingly common thing to do with mustangs is lower them......

When asked why they want to lift it they said because they had just sold their truck that they had put new tires on. They kept the tires and the mustang needed new ones, so instead of getting tires sized correctly, they are going to hunt high and low for coil spring spacers so they can fit them on it.

Now for the best part:

The tires are 31" all terrains.
