Doctors VS Guns

US Gun Statistics
Various Sources
2-2-5

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

(Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health Human Services)

Guns
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
Yes, that is 80 million.

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!

Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

Re: Doctors VS Guns

Don't get me wrong I'm 100% for guns and I'm a gun owner my self, but the key word in those statistics is accidental. I'd like to see the statistics of intentional deaths by doctors vs. intentional deaths from guns.

Re: Doctors VS Guns

Found this interesting ...

Quote:
The Hart Poll in 1981 found 644,000 defensive uses with handguns per year. The Mauser Poll in 1990 found 691,000 defensive uses per year. The Field Poll in California in 1978 found 1.2 million handgun defensive uses per year. The Time/CNN Poll in 1989 found over 908,000 defensive uses per year. Gary Kleck estimated the yearly defensive use of firearms by civilians to be at about 1,000,000 per year. A more recent study by Gary Kleck put the yearly total at approximately 2,400,000 defensive uses. Yet the total deaths by firearm in the USA only runs about 25,000 to 30,000 per year, and that includes accidents, murders, suicides and self defense homicides. That means a gun is 30-40 times more likely to defend against an assault or other crime than kill anybody. As accidental firearm's related deaths is about 1400 per year, including hunting accidents, the defensive use verses accidental death ratio is about 700-800 to 1. A study by Simon Fraser University professor Gary Mauser shows Canadians use guns in self-defense against assailants more than 32,000 times a year.

The next time I go to the doctor, I'm going to shoot him in the face and claim self defense.

Re: Doctors VS Guns

it's like this look at the countries that banned guns. the violent crime rate went up 200% think their criminals they don't care if it's illegal to carry guns their gonna do it anyway. My thoughts are if you're in a room full of people and know that everyone in the room has a gun you're gonna be a nicer person.

Just like it used to be. Back in the Italian mob days, you made fun of someone then, you got shot.

Re: Doctors VS Guns

Yup, actually kind of like the Samurai days also, where you didn't just walk into someone's house and rob them, you got ****ed up by the dad and son.

Re: Doctors VS Guns

well I don't have any kids. And I'm kinda a gun nut. So their is a gun hidden in almost every room in the house. And about 4 thousand rounds of ammo in the gun safe. all my friends say that they are staying at my house for armegeddon.
