Oil Rant

So i went to get my oil changed yesterday, i would have done it myself but i simply haven't even had enough time to sleep inbetween shifts.

anyway, i go in and i ask for a specific type of oil...they type i always put in my car. they assure me that they have it and that they will use it.

so they get done and i look at the reciept, and it shows that they put the wrong damn oil in my car! not only was it not the one i asked for, but it was 5W-30, which is not even the right kind for my car (i think the big sticker on the upper intake with "5w-20" on it wasn't big enough for them to see). I know it doesn't make that much of a difference, but when it comes to my car, i'm picky about every damn detail.

so anyway, long story short. i'm never taking my car to get the oil changed again. for now on, i'm fixing it myself.

oh and the little illegal guy working there had the nerve to ask me for my number afterwords. i gave him one of those blank stares that stewie on family goes does where he tilts his head to the left.....argh. i should have just given him my exbf's number

Re: Oil Rant

lol like i said, i'm not a cop...yet (thanks to my injury) but he just switched the oil over but didn't charge me any less. i only went there too cause the guy that owns it is my grandfather's best friend. so i'll make sure that he knows about it.

Re: Oil Rant

That sucks! I've figured out it's never a good experience when taking your oil to get changed. (I did that once... never again. I ended up changing it myself in their shop.)

Re: Oil Rant

Thats why I do my own basic maintence still so I know what has been done and how it is performing. Sorry to hear about your run of luck the quick lube I used to work at has killed about 9 cars in under a year since I left. It would have cost them less just to pay me and my crew for all those trannys and engines they have had to rebuilt........

Re: Oil Rant

I take my oil in and watch them to make sure they use it.

I am going to also change my own from now on since I have the ability to now. You can use 5w-30 and it wont be an issue in the summer time~ so dont worry about that.

Re: Oil Rant

I had this happen before, I made them drain it and redo it. I had taken my oil with me and he just used the crap they have there.

Re: Oil Rant

5w30 IMO is better for a 3.8... 5w30 was always recommended for the minivans/etc

Re: Oil Rant

i think i use 5w30 royal purple.

id just do it yourself from now on. i had this same thing happen to me, wanted to change the atf fluid in my tbird, i brought some merconV (i think) to use and they said ok, after they said it was done they bring me all my fluid and say manufacturers spec yadda yadda not use merconv yadda yadda. i was just like "i was going to pay you guys to change the tranny fluid with my supplied fluid, i do not want your **** nor will i pay for it, you just wasted your and my time" and i took off down the road (it was one of those 10minute lube places, so i was still in the car). nothing ever happened even though they had all my info minus my money and they put my supply of merconv in the pass seat so i got that back too.
