To trade.. Or not to trade that is the question

ok... i know i haven't been on here in a long.. but i have a question... my dad posed a question to me. He said that there was a 98 Redfire V6 vert with a camel top and camel clothe interior and he wanted me to think about possibly traking in the 79 toward that one... but the sintamental (spelling?) value is whats got me stumped... i know that the 98 will be easier to mod but the 79 is finally where i wanted it to go.. but i want ya'lls opinions... what would you do?

Re: To trade.. Or not to trade that is the question

Trade it. You'd have a more sound platform, in my opinion, to start modding, especially if you want to stay with fuel injection in the long run. Plus, you already have 4 wheel discs, ABS, airbag(whether or not it'll work), and a MUCH better electrical system. Not sure what your aiming for performance wise though, as verts are less stiff in the chassis end of the spectrum. If it were me I'd keep the notch, but I'm that kind of guy.

Hey, if you trading up, why not just sell it outright? And how much would you sell it for ?

Keep it. If it was for a GT or cobra, then trade. Don't trade it for a V6....it isn't worth it.

Will, the only reason I'd move up from the 79 to the 98 is because it's a vert. You're not gonna have just gobs of more power.

So...if you want a vert then go for it...just wait till the first time you see the new owner driving the 79 around.

Re: To trade.. Or not to trade that is the question

Dont trade in the car, just buy another car if that is what you want but dont trade off yours. If you must sell it after you buy another car (if you have to get a loan most banks will wait up to 3 months before closing the loan giving you time to sell your current car)

Re: To trade.. Or not to trade that is the question

well... i have to have a new car... cause mine it not set up for daily driving... and its really unrelyable.. something breaks all the time.... and my gas mileage is complete crap... and if i keep one and get a new one i don't have any space for it.. and i do like the idea of having a vert.... its either trade the mustang for a mustang... or drive a ****ing honda lol

how about you sell your car then buy another one... trading is a horrible idea and you shouldnt do it unless you have no choice.

+1 because as stated, you will not get jack for your car no matter what you paid for it from a junk yard. A 79 will not yield high trade in value.

are you on crack that you HONESTLY thought you were gonna yield more then 500 for that car in trade in. Hell that 500 is an overshot a 79 isnt gonna warrent anything. You gotta keep in mind dealerships buy your cars and instantly throw them in auctions.

I remember when my dad had his 85 GT they offered him 500 a guy over heard them walked up to him with 2 grand cash and bought it off my dad infront of the salesmen.

As stated sell your car ouright or start saving your pennies

I was implying condition of the car and platform as in basis to make the car perform better, faster, stronger. But then again, it is a convertible... :hmm:

X2.

Or hell no. Its a 98 v-6 Mustang, who give a damn.(sorry to anybody who owns a 98 v-6 Mustang ) I know that sounds harsh, but my man you must aspire to bigger and better things, and a 98 v-6 Mustang isn't much better than what you already have, especially if your talking about wanting to mod it. And used v-8 Mustangs are not typically expensive cars, its a little more than the v-6, and then you will have gas and insurance to pay for but its not that bad. I bought my old 99 Roush with not even 37,000 miles for $12,000. My suggestion would be a new GT500, that would be much bigger and better than what you got now.
