One is panned slightly to the left. Or the right depending on your definition of "One".

Re: The Difference Between DVD Quality and High Definition Quality

one looks like its on a regular TV, the other looks like a high def set.

seeing that God of War is a game and not a DVD or the like, i dont see how it relates to the title of the thread.

one might suggest by the thread title he would be seeing a comparison of a standard DVD versus a BluRay/HDDVD setup on the same tv set (say a hd-lcd). not a comparison of different resolutions.

DVD's Resolution is 480p.

They are both on the same TV hooked up exactly the same way.

Re: The Difference Between DVD Quality and High Definition Quality

lol really doesnt matter when the feed comes from a ****ty game. its like comparing a turd to a turd with peanuts.

much rather see the difference with actual movies, not games. that imo is a true test of definition.

MY POINT EXACTLY... damn it, you guys never listen to me

(wtf does that mean?)... also, either looks fine to me it's a game. Maybe I'm just used to games being a little "grainy"

There is one with movies. I have seen it before, and there is definitely a difference.

I thought the page was full of a lot of insightful comments/suggestions as well.

Re: The Difference Between DVD Quality and High Definition Quality

Oh god there's a huge difference... not necessarily that I see in those screen shots, even though its noticable, but just watching TV in the different HD modes you can tell a huge difference. My TV will tell what resolution each HD channel is being broadcast in, and its a huge difference from 480p to 1080i. Everything is so crisp.

I will say though, that when I use my xbox360 as a DVD player, it must upconvert or something, because movies look incredible on it. It might be that, or the fact that the 360 runs through the component cables... but something makes it look much more impressive than just a stand alone DVD player that I have sitting next to the 360.

Re: The Difference Between DVD Quality and High Definition Quality

I've got upconverting DVD players on my 720p plasma and my 1080i LCD-projection TV. I can tell the difference between watching a DVD and watching a movie that's broadcast in HD. The DVD looks better than RAD-TV, but it's noticeably grainier than the HD broadcast. That said, I'm not about to spend $600+ on a BR or HD-DVD player (and then have to repurchase my DVD collection...). There's not that much of a difference.

I bought my tv at wal-mart 1000 years (carbon dated) ago. Its color. I might not be able to see the sweat drip off the runningback's balls as he does his touchdown dance, but i did see him score.

^HD format video players WILL play standard dvds, and SOME players will upconvert the dvd signal to near HD quality; so, no need to rebuy unless you really want to

But I've already got upconverting DVD players... I'm not going to buy a big expensive high-def player and not want to go buy high-def format movies to play on it.

Maybe that's because they are both from a PS2 game.
