No, how about...

Firebird / TransAm
Camaro

Sure, the mustang obviously played a part in aftermarket companies, but it by no means single handedly allowed companies to become what they have. There's plenty of companies that existed before the fox body came around that made parts for other cars too... they just happened to get into the market as well.

What you're saying is about equivalent to a statement like, "If Ford never would have released the Mustang in 1964, then there would be no Ford sports car today", which is a completely absurd, ridiculous statement that obviously you can't prove anything for or against.

Um, no. You've got a thick skull there baldy!

Or better yet, why don't you indulge me on exactly how you can know what would have happened to a number of companies out there had the mustang never existed, cause I'd like to hear how you would even come close to knowing.

Because I'm a Republican, and therefore, know everything.

Or because I can read. Back to that whole thing.

Go and do a little research about how the poplularity of the '87 Mustang saved the Mustang from a very probable death at the hands of a little 4 cylinder-based Mazda. Then read up on what the aftermarket scene was like for V8 domestic vehicles in the mid eighties. Then fast forward to the mid nineties and compare the two.

I can't say for sure what would have happened. I can say for sure what did happen.

On his latest trip to the ford dealership he read a ford pamphlet about the mustang that said it was the best car ever and without it the world would have ended. HE READ IT WITH HIS OWN EYES.

It seems that the irony and humor in this thread is lost on every one but me (and bullitt, I'm sure he's having fun with this).

That said, you're right. The late eighties Camaro/Firebird/Trans Am would have definitely caused the same thing to happen eventually. After all, the 305 was an amazing motor. I still don't see why GM decided to replace them with the LT1 and eventually the LS1. Those motors are absolute **** compared to what the 305 could have eventually become with a little bit of work (like a decent EFI set-up and some more free-flowing exhaust).

Re: Foxbodies> *

Nothing could have taken the place of the Mustang due to something was already in that slot... the Mustang. The market would have adjusted to meet the demands of the people and something would have filled the void. If your customer wants to give you money and you then take it and make a profit that is considered good business. If you can make enough money on large enough scale to satisfy your business and make it grow then most would consider that a good opportunity.

Who knows what would have stepped up to fill the void. The bottom line is that it doesnt matter what car has or did... what really made the aftermarket grow was the people. The people buying the parts are responsible at the end to the growth and the popularity of the Mustang. No matter what you say or how you try to twist it... without people buying the car and modifying it the Mustang would have went no where.

I am glad they did buy and wish to modify the Mustang to make its aftermarket grow, but they would have done that to another vehicle if the Mustang had not taken on the sweet spot in the market. They were interested in what the Mustang could do, not what its name was or who produced it. Ford hit the market with the right car at the right time for the right price. If they didnt someone else would have. I am just glad Ford did first.

Yes, that and Vdubs were pretty much Hitlers choice...

Ok, and Mercedes, but still. Vdubs are what the population got.

Well, Porsche and VW are all but the same company anyways. Hitler wanted cheap transportation for everyone in the "people's car", but this is the US. Even if the Beetle and 911 rolled off the same line, idiot americans would buy the expensive porsche just for the penis size adjustment

Very very true. But thanks to the Jeep, we only have a few ****** porches and not a ton. And thanks to the Jeep, we have mustangs, and the internet.

Its is getting quite pointless and off topic. Oh yeah and Ford now owns VW plus Henery Ford was kinda fond of Adolf Hitler and addmired his productivity from what I have researched.

Umm... No, your thinking about Volvo, not VW. Volkswagen owns bentley, Lamborghini, Audi, and Bugatti.

I'm having a blast actually and still cannot believe that this thread's original intent was a rebuttle to the thread that was SN95> *. And it's so dam funny that some of the same arguments are being argued.

No it doesn't. It all boils down to the 1987-1993 5.0L Ford Mustangs being the GREATEST CARS EVER MADE.
