Turbo Questions

What are the basic parts for a turbo... no matter what car:

Turbo/BOV/Boost Controller/Wastegate/Intercooler/Piping....

what else... I know there has to be some flanges or some sort of connectors

Re: Turbo Questions

its always cheaper to fab your own kit than buy one. but its one of those "if you have to ask, youre already in over your head" questions.

Because, I think the guy(s) he is referring to doesn't know **** about turbos.

For the record Mike, to fab a kit requires welding...so, unless you know a welder...

In fact, a pre-fabbed kit might require welding...but like I said, his help doesn't know **** about turbos.

Re: Turbo Questions

Yeah just buy it, some come with a warranty anyway so if anything happens you'll have someone to call.

Re: Turbo Questions

is this for the stang or the tc?

if its for the stang then its not hard, you can use it as a reason to buy a welder and learn to weld. if its for the tc, im going to go out on a limb and say its going to be an insane pita to try to build a custom kit, not to mention the fact its your dd. all you need is:

tubing
oil feed lines / fittings
oil return line / fittings
coolant feed lines / fittings
coolant return lines / fittings
tubing
header flange
more tubing
miscellaneous tbolt clamps and couplers
a turbo or two (its kinda important)
the turbo flange and outlet flange
prolly throw in a fmic while youre at it

Re: Turbo Questions

Are you going to turbo your Tc... please tell me you are not. Dont waste money and lose your warranty to make a slow car a little less slow.

Finally someone else with the turbo knowledge. There is probably more info on that site than howstuffworks.com about forced induction. Still wish the site was turbomustangs.com

Just hook up a bag of sand to your intake pipe. Let the engine do the work and it will be all polished up in no time.

still not as funny as the srt4 owner who pulled his plugs and poured degreaser into the cylinders to clean off his carbon deposits and hydrolocked his motor.

I really think that one was a fake post. I saw one where a VW guy did it and also a Mustang.... I think a member of the site did it as a joke on each one. It was still funny as hell though.

You just made me spit out the ice cream I was eating I was laughing so hard.

Ice cream out the nose didn't seem very fun.
