Chris Benoit and family found dead

This story that came across the waves a few minutes ago:

WWE: Inside WWE > News > Chris Benoit and family found dead

Chris Benoit, who you might know from wrestling, was found dead with his wife and son in their Atlanta home. Details are sketchy right now, but police are investigating.

This sucks. He was by far one of the best wrestlers on their roster.

Benoit was originally from here in Edmonton and trained in Calgary by the Harts, and I hate to say it, but it's almost like a curse surrounding connections to the Hart family over the last 10 or so years. First Owen's accident in 1999, then Davey Boy Smith "The British Bulldog" (married to Brett's sister) died in 2002 of a heart attack, then Eddie Guerrero's sudden heart failure (very, very close friend of Beniot's and the Hart's), and now this....... it's pretty crazy.

Re: Chris Benoit and family found dead

Well initial reports are that it's nothing violent, and that he went home from the WWE's tour because there was a "family illness".

Here at work we're thinking that it was something like a gas leak or carbon monoxide poisoning.

That really sucks because he was one of the most technical wrestlers out there, next to Ken Shamrock.

Shamrock wasn't even on the same level as Benoit. Sure he was a good fighter and all, but Shamrock could never compare to Benoit's in-ring ability or intensity IMO.

The only guy I might compare Benoit to in both ability, knowledge and in-ring presence is Eddie Guerrero... only Eddie wasn't as well versed in submission as Chris was. The one guy that's still around that I'd truly compare Chris to is AJ Styles of TNA Wrestling - if AJ ever was to come to the WWE, he'll be the champ within a year of his first match.

Never been a fan of wrestling...ever....but it is still sad to see things like this happen. From what I have been hearing, he seemed to be a stand up guy.

Now if athlete celebrities like say, Pacman Jones suddenly bit the bullet, then I would figure he probably had it coming.

Re: Chris Benoit and family found dead

A news report from Seattle as well as a report for Fox News are saying that the cops are investigating it as a murder-suicide.

However, a report out of Georgia is saying the cops are investigating it as a homicide.

.... apparently the bodies were found in 3 different rooms in the house though, so something's a little fishy. This could be an interesting story to keep watching.

EDIT:
Just checked the WWE site and their headline says "double murder-suicide".

This sucks that it happened, and the only good thing that comes from it is they will finally stop talking about the lame *** fake mcmahan firey death...that was so lame it wasn't funny...and was blown out of the water tonight when vince came out and said "this was supposed to be a remembrance for me...but it's benoits night".

Some good matches were left on the table with him dying...that's for sure.

I'll have to download the show later today or tomorrow since I'm working tonight.

I haven't really watched much wrestling for the last 6 months or so but I heard about the McMahon thing earlier today after this story was released, so that's kind of funny considering the circumstances. As much of a prick as Vince is, he's never put the story in front of the individual, and I'm glad he was on camera tonight, just as he's been when any other WWE wrestler has passed away.

Re: Chris Benoit and family found dead

It has been retarded. Check the news section of wwe.com. Watch the video of his "presumed" death...the camera man zooms in and out at the key moments...no one rushes to help for several minutes...it is lame as hell. Then all kinds of polls and **** about who did it...yet no news coverage. Benoit dies and it is all over everywhere. Hmm....shocking how a real story works.

Last week I answered the poll about who did it and said whomever the ****** was that thought of this story line needs to die. It is lame as hell...and would be all over the news.

Back when we used to play WCW on the N64, one of my buddies always refered to him as "Benoitment creme". That game was the ****.

lol! I remember that. I didn't own it but my cousin did. It was the best and most realistic wrestling evar! But that was coming from someone who swore on his life that wrestling was real, and only recently gave up his belief.

I will never let him live it down either.

Ya it did!! Many of nights trying to whip Dave's *** at that game.

BTW, I hear two of Benoit close friends were found dead two weeks before. I'm really curious about the "bizarre" clam that the news keeps speaking of...

Probably not as fishy as you might suspect...Of course, I am just speculating, but many of the original news reports after they found the bodies in the house made comments about Chris Benoit sending strange text messages to a lot of people in the WWE community over the weekend about "undisclosed family emergencies", which is the excuse WWE gave for Benoit's absense from all of the wrestling events over the weekend...I would guess one of those text messages said something to the effect that "I killed my wife" or "my wife is dead", or some thing along those lines...which would explain how the WWE people knew about her death before the police found the bodies...because the WWE people didn't contact the police until sometime monday to investigate the home...which is when all 3 bodies were found...

Well it was a form of dwarfism that resulted in some autistic symptoms... which is why there were prescription steroids in the house - it was used as a treatment. Benoit's last drug test in mid-April came out negative.

As for the text messages that were sent to two of his friends in the WWE, this is what was reported to the police:

Text #1... Sunday Morning - 3.53AM: (sent from Chris' cell phone)
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville Georgia, 30215”

Text #2... Sunday Morning - 3.53AM: (sent from Chris' cell phone)
“The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open.”

Texts #3, 4 & 5... Sunday Morning - 3.54-3.58AM: (sent from Nancy's cell phone)
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215”
