Re: Traffic Tickets

wow thats insanely bull****.

they seriously need to revamp the speed limits, i mean, when these speed limits were created, cars were lucky to hit 100, nowadays, the crappiest vehicles out there (base neons, scions, etc) have to be limited by the ecu for 120.

Re: Traffic Tickets

wow haha, I guess my friend is lucky, he got stopped 2 times in VA withing 1 week both speeding/Reckless 85 in 55 and 102 in 55. He paid fines 1,500, but nothing in the 3,500 each range, and was lucky he didnt have jail time.

It will never happen because the current limits are 2 things:

1.) More than enough for the average driver...there are enough accidents in 55 zones let alone bumping things to 75-85 everywhere.

2.) A great revenue generator for the city/county/state. Just like stupid things like inspections and seat belt laws....low limits guarantee recurring income in today's impatient world. Gotta line the politicians pockets somehow...either taxes or fines...currently, it takes both.

Re: Traffic Tickets

^Not to mention most major roads were built long ago and are not currently capable of allowing higher speeds.

Re: Traffic Tickets

Also, supposedly (big supposedly), the government also set up the speed limits for optimal fuel economy, especially freeway speeds.

Re: Traffic Tickets

Sorry to go off topic, but don't most engines run optimally at ~70?

It all depends on your vehicle's gear ratio and engine efficiency.

For some vehicles it may be 95, for some it may be 45, just depends.
