End of the rovers:

SPACE.com -- 'Scary Storm' on Mars Could Doom Rovers

Could this be the end of their mission? I think it's amazing that they were expected to last 90 days and currently they're at day 1246 for Spirit and day 1226 for Opportunity. Amazing.

Re: End of the rovers:

I know they move slow and each control transmission takes about a day to reach them, but I wonder if they would be able to get them to an outcrop or something near to each of them and get them some shelter or if they are just gonig to leave them out in the open.

The delay time is only about 10 minutes. The problem isn't the storm itself, but the dust blotting out the sun. If it gets blocked out enough then they can't charge the battery enough to keep the heaters on through the night.

Re: End of the rovers:

Is it only ten minutes? It seemed like with Sojourner it took almost a full day for the rover to receive.
