Question What SUV/Crossover would you choose?

With winter coming, I've been debating about what kind of SUV/Crossover vehicle to buy. However, with so many selections out there on the market, I need some input about which one I should go with.

I've been looking at:
*Mazda CX7
*Ford Edge
*Ford Escape
*Nissan Murano

What do you think?
Thanks!

Answer this. What do you need from it, and would you want it to do?

Re: What SUV/Crossover would you choose?

I need the traction and safety of a 4WD/AWD for winter, with plenty of cargo room, and an overall comfortable interior, durable exterior, and powerful build. Doesn't necessarily have to be brand-new, but considered very reliable with good miles on it.
I know it would be black with leather interior, and an average price tag of $20,000 or so.
Just so many different styles and performance/safety ratings, not sure which would be the best investment.

Re: What SUV/Crossover would you choose?

If you go used, I'd take the murano over the rest. I work for Nissan and it's one of our more reliable cars. The cx7 is sporty and from what I remember was a decent car when I worked for Mazda but I don't know about longevity, also the direct injected turbo motor is fairly new for Mazda. The escape is a big he'll no. I know it is the same as a Mazda tribute and was the worse car we had at Mazda under the rx-8. The edge haven't heard too much about but none of it was negegitive.

Edge hands down. My Cousin has an AWD SEL and its really nice. The ride is nice and smooth handling was nice and firm. It was also very spacious. Campaired to the Nissan the Fords cargo room is 68.9 cu.ft. vs 64 cu.ft.

I personally like the Edge. I heard the the Escape a few years back had awful crash test ratings but haven't heard anything on that recently. Hopefully they improved that. My vote goes to the Edge. Good luck!

I just heard they had bad crash test ratings but that was it. That was also a couple years ago. They should be better I'm sure.

The Escapes are good. We don't really have many problems with them here at the Ford Dealer, but I would use the Edge.

The selling feature on the Edge is the AWD and high marks for safety ratings. IIHS-HLDI: Ford Edge

Re: What SUV/Crossover would you choose?

the Cx7 is a little small, the nissan is going to be more expensive, the escape is ugly

I would go with the edge

We have a 08 Edge SEL AWD I would recommend this car to anybody. Good power good looks and a great ride. If you buy an Edge get the sunroof you wont be disappointed!

None of the above. We now have a CX7 - will never again. Nice car, no power and the engine seeps oil. After a few visits, they still can't nail it. Had a Nissan (Maxima) and that ended up costing too much to own in repair work once the warranty ran out. Great V6 when it ran, just was not reliable. And both the Fords are butt-ugly.

I'm in the same boat as my wife is looking now. Candidates (today) are the new Honda Crosstour and the Toyota Rav4 or maybe the Venture. I like Toyota, my Tacoma has been nothing short of great for a mid-sized truck. Honda has always had a great rep too. We'll see, the choices do come and go with her. Last week she read about the new Mini AWD coming out, hope that was just a wim. lol!
