Opinion

I was wondering what anyone thought about putting smithy glass pack mufflers on my v6. I know they're for classics but thats the sound Im looking for.

Not gonna pull that sound out of a v6. My setup on my 97 was an h pipe with cats and 2.5 piping and 2.5 tips and flowmaster super 44's.

So you think a glass pack would just ruin it. Currently I got a little muffler on it, it's about a foot long and wide and only about 8 inches tall and its really loud. I want more rumble with less bass. Any ideas?

It might ruin it, check out some YouTube vids. Also here's a link to my old 1997 mustang v6. H pipe carted with2.5 piping and 2.5 tips with flowmaster super 44's. Not trying to brag, but it's one of the best v6's I've heard.

The car sounds great. It deceives how the 6 should sound. The car looked great, to bad you sold it. How much did the exhaust system run you.

Thanks but the one I have now sounds alot better. When I got it, it had the h pipe, 2.5 piping and 2.5 tips catted. I bought the flowmaster super 44's, had the stock ones cut out and those welded in for $200. If your going to buy everything I had, it'll probably run from 350-450.

Thanks for comparison. I have a guy who will cut off the pipping and weld the new ones on pretty cheap. I just gotta find a good deal on the mufflers.

Re: Opinion

Yah I'd stick with a chambered muffler or 2 chambered mufflers if you go duals.

Common saying is flowmasters, (40's or 44's), an h-pipe and longtubes will give you the best sound. I like the idea of a catted h-pipe...quiet and mellow, probably the best sound characteristics for a 6.

Blb97stang, your old stang sounds real good, how is the sound in the higher rpms...acceleration and highway cruisin?

I looked online for some dual exhaust kits with an h pipe included by flowmaster so it's a matter of saving to get it. The flowmasters sound really clean so I'm defiantly going with that.

Thanks man. It didn't really sound that bad in the high rpm's. Sounded like a v8 if you started off in 1st gear driving it normal without getting on it, I never took it on the highway.

Re: Opinion

I think on a v6 stang you would waste your money if you bought glasspacks, My experience is that the v6 sounds the same with stock cats and straight pipe then with a offroad h-pipe and glasspacks and a v6 with both cats and glasspacks are to quiet and might as well stick with stock mufflers.

Re: Opinion

ive heard many glass packs on v6 mustangs and none really sound good. I think a normal chambered muffler in the end sounds better even though it wont be as loud.

Yea after listening to YouTube videos of flowmasters and glasspacks the flowmasters sound much much better. I will just have to wait for a real v8 to pull that sound.

I'm going with flowmaster 44's with the h pipe. Once I get the funds I'll get em.
