Bullit, you didn't need to do all those middle conversions. You were either doing more work than you needed or you messed up some where along those other conversions.

I got something different and it's straight from a College Exam.

Re: Hey Thomas, LS motor on boost:

You have to take either the Log or the Natural Log of something in there don't you?

Log could be used for pH, not this though. Don't feel bad I'm a chem major.

Re: Hey Thomas, LS motor on boost:

I was reminded of this thread the other night at Starbucks (not my choice to go...). The geniuses there were talking about how a CO2 canister gets cold after you open it, and Mr. Einstein himself goes "the CO2 has a chemical reaction with the air". I look at him and go "thats the dumbest thing I have heard in a while". He gives me a stare like I just called him out on the size of his manhood, so I start to explain the the ideal gas law to him and how there is already a fair amount of CO2 in the air. I finish up and he goes "so it has a reaction with the air?". I say "yes", and leave.

LOL, you busted him out in front of the people he was trying to impress. You should have sat him down and explained it to him like you would a small child.

you should have to told him to come sit on your lap and pay attention while you weave a wonderful tale of how the world he lives in works.

Well dammit, there goes 2 Calculus's, 2 Physics, and several thousand dollars down the tube...

The middle conversions I was doing was because I was actually using the units that were listed on wikipedias site to use I couldn't remember what units I was supposed to use for each variable ..... OH welll... What the hell was the right answer?

Re: Hey Thomas, LS motor on boost:

20.2. We were looking for 20.2.

Using PV=nRT when R=.08206 and we are given most of the information. Actually I should have specified R = 0.08206 L atm mol^-1 K^-1 (that's a carrot [^] to express exponents). So we already have moles and liters and the only real conversion is Centigrade to Kelvin, which is 307.15. We can submit the equation as P=[nrT]/V.

Substitute [2 x 0.08206 x 307.15]/2.5
Simplify to 50.409/2.5
And we get 20.1637 or 20.2.

When I saw that answer though I thought "Crap! Did I do something wrong?" lol I figured even in a physics class there was another formula that was more precise.

Well, that number is only off by a few tenths in numbers probably lost in my rounding of numbers and off by 3 decimals.... My math must have been screwed up BAD somewhere

Re: Hey Thomas, LS motor on boost:

If it makes you feel better I'm good at chemistry but awful (and I do mean awful) at math. I took two Math entrance exams for college and bombed both of them.:spaz:
