Cafe Racers

Anybody have any interest in them?

I've suddenly got a cravin' to build one (despite oh, NY's worst winter in 3 decades, lack of funds, no time, no bike, and a Mustang that's still on jack stands for the winter).

I can't help to think though this would be a great little side project. Spend a few hundred dollars on an old bike, twice that amount on restoring it, come out under $2500 [or something like that] and have a kick *** bike. Unfortunately I also have some requirements: I want to stay away from Japanese brands (nothing prejudice, I just want it to be more 'original'). Preferably an Italian motor and frame. I guess I'd take an English bike (which is prejudice), but damn what I wouldn't do for a Norton 750 Commando.

Anyway, anyone else have experience with them? Or know where I can start learning and gathering resources and possible parts? Or how about your thoughts on them. Like 'em? Love 'em? Hate 'em?
