Re: too old to drive

It happens on I-95 all of the time! Especially by my work exit. People keep getting on the ramps wrong. One time it killed a family of 8.

its not a problem of being too old, its also a problem of being too drunk. when we get one down here going the wrong way, 9 times out of 10 they are drunk

Re: too old to drive

This is why I think once you hit the age of about 60 I think you should have to take the drivers test every year. Because after 60 reaction times start getting slower. Eye sight starts really going down hill and its more likely for Alzheimer to start in some cases.

Re: too old to drive

Being old isn't that big of a deal. I know plenty of older people who are still more fit mentally and physically than a lot of people in their mid 20's. Shouldn't be driving at all no matter your age if you aren't responsible enough to pay attention to things around you. From what I can tell its mainly people not paying attention or who are drunk.

Sorry to hear that! A lot of great memories with paw, he's the one that got me into wanting to mod cars...started with an 01 3.0ltr Ranger Edge that we worked on together..left it to me when he passed away til some drunk driver t-boned it and bent the frame beyond repair. Sad to see it go though

You almost have to feel bad for the ones who can't drive though. If they don't have anyone to take them their left with public transpo. Cabbies will take them the long way and milk the cash right out of em. And as for our local bus system... well it can be dangerous. A lot of drug dealers use the bus to move around, and a lot of the poorer teens hangout on them and just make trouble for people. Still if you can't even notice that you are going the wrong way then you deff. should not be driving. I remember my grandma tried to drive once in my lifetime, she ended up in the mayors yard and that was the end of it.

He was a funny guy. My dad built his own airplane and Harley with authentic Harley parts and that's where my love started. Sadly, he's gone too. And he was a Chevy guy! Oh the fun rivalry we could have today.

Sorry to hear! But yes family is the best to have a rivalry between when it comes to stuff like that. It stays friendly and doesn't get serious like some people are lol.

You ever notice that whenever you see a video of someone driving the wrong way, they are always gunning it instead of just stopping!?

Thats because its more interesting to watch and causes problem when they're gunning it. There arent many news stories or videos of them stopping because ita not interesting to watch or here about and pointless to write about if no one gets hurt.

I'd have to say in Florida, probably, 9 times out of 10 they are elderly. It's crazy down there. You got Grandpa going 50 and Jack ass weaving through traffic at 90+.

Look guys I agree but the elderly have already paid their debt to society. It they wanna drive slow pass em. I just can't pick on the weak. I do agree with 6 month drivers license testing after 60 tho. The roads would be safer however remember that one day that will be us and the younger generation will be saying these exact words about you and i

I agree driving slow isn't a huge problem but when they can't even tell they are on the wrong side of the highway its time to do something. If I have kids I'm going to tell them to pry the keys out of my hands when I get there. Because I won't want to stop but it is for the best.

You just want your kids to pry the keys out of your hands when your too old to drive, that's good. I want my kids (if I ever have any...need to find a woman to procreate with first) to put me down the first time I crap my pants!

Re: too old to drive

Listen up people here's one for you. I know a older guy he's 67 yrs old, 5'11",weights 200 lbs., is in great shape, has 20/20 vision, and doesn't wear glasses. He even has all his hair.
He drives a 2011 GT 6 speed Premium Coupe, Performance White with a black leather gut and complains about all the "OLD COOTS" on the road in his area.
I quess age is only a number in some cases.

And you know what? That guy is me.

Re: too old to drive

Thanks for the kind comments. This old dog has to get ready for bed now I'm worn out from washing my car and detailing the tires and there was a high of 39 degrees. Got to admit it was a little cool during the wipe down routine. Stay safe gang.
