Termy vs. Fox

In light of the cluttering of another thread, I figured it would be much more fitting to continue the discussion here...... Not that I'll be partaking that much since I've stated my piece. But, I figured the mods could probably move some of that thread to this one since this is pretty much what it is about anyway.

Flame suit ON!

*edit* Could a mod possibly change that to vs. not vx...

Re: Termy vx. Fox

what are we comparing about the two? stock vs stock, money spent vs power gained, potential out of the box (ie no built motors or drivelines)?

We comparing the ability to make various breakfast products. Any discussion outside of this topic will result in immediate lightning strikes or Chinese ninja ant invasions.

Personally, I think the Fox can make a damn good Pop-Tart, but the Cobra is better for French toast.

Re: Termy vx. Fox

Hell if I know, in the other thread, you bring up one thing, JROC flips it around to something else and forgets about the original comparison. EX, he tried to say that cobra's are cheaper to mod for buck per hp as compared to a fox, but I replied with that's not a fair comparison, seeing as the average termy is going for mid 20 thousands of dollars... That's like saying I went and got a 70 thousand dollar GT500 and saying I spend 8 grand on a blower and tune and got 300 hp out of it, and saying that the GT500 is better bang for the buck than a fox. Then he went on to say that the Termy is a better looking car and blah blah... 25 thousand dollars in a fox body would be one HELL of a foxbody. So as far for a direct comparison between the two, I'm really not sure where these guys and gals are going to take it.

Bull****, the fox would make WAY better French toast than the cobra, because you can stuff the french toast in a fox.

Give me a couple years and I'll show you what you can do to a fox with about 15k. For now, it's just a work in progress though...

Re: Termy vx. Fox

It is all about HOW you compare the two... one costs a **** ton more than the other. If cost of the vehicle is NOT part of it then I would say the terminator would be cheaper to get good hp/tq out of at the start. Pulley/tune = 450/450... and stock it is of course faster.

The fox is a cheap car to fix up and make very quick anyone can afford a fox body... I think if you had to include buying the car the fox would be a much better investment if you only wanted a car to drag race.

Re: Termy vx. Fox

I agree as well. I got the '89 coupe for $500. That leaves me quite a bit under the price of a 03-04 Cobra (I dunno, 24k?).

If the car was just intended for speed, I could obviously make it quicker than a 03-04 for that much. I think I can make it better all around for much less than that (looks, handling, power, breakfast-baked-goods-making ability). We shall see.

For 24k you could build a pretty sweet fox. A built fox with 24k in it would whoop up on 99% of the cars you see at the track. Hell, there is a pro drag racer (forget who) who built up a 1300hp turbo fox for ****s and giggles and drives it around Atlanta, probably a bit more than $24k into it, but you get the point.

The IHOP back home sucked. The IHOP here though... I had 4 eggs, 4 pieces of sausage, red potatoes and 4 pancakes the other day for $6.99. It was ****in' grandiose.

So:

Are complete engine and drivetrain swaps included in this discusion also? If so, it would basically turn this into a what body is better discusion. But if not, looks like a stock 5'oh will be soup after 500hp...

Re: Termy vs. Fox

the overal quality of the interior and such on the older mustangs wont be up to par with the new ones... thats one negative that is VERY hard to overcome and very expensive if it can even be overcome. Another one is the looks, some hate the olde ones so... you have to like them to want to invest anything into them.

That works both ways though. Some people aren't a big fan of the new ones either.

Personally, I like the 99-04 Mustangs alright, but I doubt I'll ever own one. They're kinda boring to me because you see them everywhere. And before anyone says anything... Yes, the 05+ are boring to me too. Just 'cause I drive one doesn't mean I worship it (unlike some people). A nice Fox on the other hand... isn't something you see every day. Especially a really nice one.
