Hmmm! I think it's about that time to get ready for the big one..

Well it's been about 13 years since the Northridge Earthquake, it came up on the scale at 6.9

Ever since then we've had on a rare occasion a jolt here and there. The largest I think we had was a 5.4 or 5.7 and it was just a jolt and a lot of swaying back and forth.

The other day I was talking to a customer saying "You know, we are REALLY over do on another big earthquake." She agreed with me and said she's already prepared for the next big one.

Just 3 minutes ago we had one of those nice jolts. Feels like somebody dropped a bomb near the house and everything just shakes hard for a second.

Earthquakes are so weird. One second everything is fine, the next it feels like satan's trying to come up under your house and release hell on earth. I think it's about time I start placing things that are up high and on shelves down for a little bit before they come crashing down and destroying themselves. Anyone else have the luxury of natural disasters?

It registered a 3.2

Recent Earthquakes for 118-34

Here are some shots from the Northridge earthquake.

We got an earthquake here once a few years ago. Very small, but weird none the less, since we don't get many. You are lucky. At least satan doesn't release hell, he does so here, in the form of outta-****ing-nowhere tornadoes.

yup one of these days seph. the entire western seaboard of california will be chaos. Loma Prieta and Northridge will be mere childs play compared to when the big one hits. the pressures and stresses have been building up on the plates for years, just ready for a small one to let them loose

i just hope my father gets home from the bay area before it hits, or he will likely be cut-off from the valley for days unless he wants to walk, which he has said time and again he will. hope nextel and allt he other phone companies will be able to take the load on their system when it hits, gonna be alot of people calling loved ones.

I'd like to live somewhere with some pretty cool temperatures and the most amount of snow that comes down at most is about a couple of inches. I hate hot weather, it pisses me off.

you wont find any such bickering when the big one hits cali. we wont say "omg why did we not get federal aid, where was fema, bush hates californians!" i cant wait till the day a katrina victim says "well you guys knew it was coming" i will just go "yeah, we got such a long time before we knew, like, a weeks forecast and evacuation orders were all over the news huh?"

i hate it here as well. i want to move somewhere where its wet and cold all the time. something like monterey or santa cruz on the coast where everything is green and alive, unlike this ****hole valley, where everything is dead and brown (see sig) and covered in dust. i was also looking into moving up north to Washington and trying to get hired on at a major steel building company up there (Garco Buildings). got a contact there with alot of pull that wants me once the position opens.

Nice, my girl wants us to go on a road trip to Oregon. She told me it's really beautiful up there.

Re: Hmmm! I think it's about that time to get ready for the big one..

i cant even imagine the destruction of an earthquake. here in pittsburgh with all of the hills, tunnels, bridges (the city with the most sq ft of bridges in the world), overpasses and underpasses... our whole city would be in shambles and basically un-navigational due to the delicate traffic system. it wouldnt even have to be a big one. thank god the appalachian mt range is no longer an active fault.

PS: when i say the topic title, i thought to myself... "thats what she said."

If the real big one ever hits here (the largest fault in the country runs through the south), we're all gonna be screwed.

And I swear, if a quake in cali sets off one here, I'll personally bring a bulldozer over and push cali off the us.

Is it wrong that I look forward to the day that California drifts out into the ocean?

Yes, but I still do.

Cali is the most liberal state in America. How the hell will there not be whining again? Everything will be Bush's fault. Boxer and Pelosi will rip apart Bush if there is a Earthquake and something doesn't go right.

Tornadoes, Ice storms, floods, heavy snow, we get a mix of it all. we are really close to a major falt line or something but it has not done anything but a little shake about 5 years ago.

Related to your earthquakes: google "Liquefaction"

Growing up around Memphis you become aware of the devastating potential of earthquakes too. New Madrid fault has a history of some enormous earthquakes. Due to the rock structure, the energy is dissipated differently than in Cali. Several times New Madrid has experienced multiple quakes of 7.0+ or greater one reaching 7.9.

Aaaand we just had another earthquake! This one was about 4.5 but it only lasted for about 4 seconds max. Just a soft rumble and a sway. It's coming!!
