Decisions

New parts
Manual Rack & Pinion Flaming river steering shaft
Flowmaster 2 1/2" Tailpipes
Summit Radiator with Taurus fan
New door handles NIB
351w emblems NIB
GT decal for hood

Car runs good and strong, I would guess 300whp no problems there. Ran a 13.0@102.
Paint is good from 10'
I would bet with a good wet sanding it would look a whole lot better.

Interior: Needs new dash pad and door panels. And a very good cleaning.
Needs a power brake booster. Been driving it the way it is since I got it
and have no problem stopping. I was going to convert to manual brakes anyway. Needs a double hump crossmember. Exhaust hangs low on driver side.

T-Tops leak in heaving rain, needs new seals. No Radio. Heater works like crap. I scrapped all the old worn out tint off except the rear window, will probably to that tomorrow. That hatch is not original to the car. Door lock actuators bad. Glove box door has a couple hole drilled in it ( should have taken my aderrall that day) The front has a little shimmy in the driver side
tire. Both fronts are worn on the outter edges from to much toe in after I
installed the new rack. Has been aligned since. Oil pan has a crack right
buy the front drain plug, hit something in the road. I JB welded it about 3
months ago and doesn't leak a drop. Front sway bar removed.

I want to be totally honest about this car so there is no *****ing after the sale.
Unlike the guy who sold me the car.

Was using as a daily driver up until this week when I picked up a beater for
back and forth to work.

Re: Decisions

i guess it would depend on the reason for getting rid of it. too much of a project? money problem? want a different mustang? etc. my fox needs a lot of TLC too but i'm trying to hang on to her for dear life even through the pay cuts i'm receiving from work. in the end, its your choice. you have to figure out the best option for you.

Re: Decisions

I would say no only if what all are saying that these years are starting to go up in value. If you can hold it for a few more years and make another couple to few thousand I would say hold it.

Like I always say after I sell a car a year later I ask myself why did I get rid of it LOL.

Re: Decisions

Mike, pick a car and keep it man. you getting as bad as some people that i know. the car you have is pretty sweet, course i though your blue fox was pretty sweet also. if you have a beater then keep it and slowly restore it to what you want.

Re: Decisions

Think I am going to sand it down and give it a $100 paint job.

Re: Decisions

SOLD THE *****
Well after some thought the project is gone. Sold it last Wed. Might have lost a bit of cash, but if you figure the $300-$400 a new carpayment + insurance would cost me everymonth.
I probably came out pretty good. Saved $2500 +/- while owning it. I knew that with the money from the sale and the $5k or so in the Project Mustang budget a very straight and clean car could be bought. Mine was a little rough, and the former owner had done a pretty good job of hacking up the wiring.
Thinking about picking this car up. 86' Mustang Notch

For Sale 1986 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Coupe 5spd - Ford Mustang Forums : Corral.net Mustang Forum
Thought about buying this car when I bought mine but didn't want to cough up the cash at the time.
Seems like a nice clean basically untouched example of a Foxbody. Some boltons, full suspension and brake package, and some type of forced induction and I would have a very nice car. Not greedy for horsepower after the fiasco with my 90'LX. 400-425whp is plenty for a street car.

What do you guys/girls think?
Mike

Sounds like a sound car and would be great for a minor project. It is hard to find them in really great condition.
