Well, Bonds did it

Well, he finally did it. I'm sure the vid will be up on all the hosts if not by now, then by morning. I think everyone in the stadium knew it was gone when he hit it...he knew it immediately. Pretty much dead center field.

The malay in the stands was priceless. When security was carrying the lucky ball boy away, he looked a bit battered and dazed.

I'm glad he finally did it though...roids or not, it is quite the feat.

I don't care about the roids. If baseball didn't want the performance enhancing drugs to be used by the players, they should have been testing for them.

**** bonds. In my opinion, the record doesn't apply to cheaters.

Not only that, but if Babe Ruth actually played as many games as they do in the regular leagues now a days, people estimated he'd be in the 1000's in home runs.

Key word...estimated. Roids or not, it takes more than roids to put the ball in the stands. Not to mention, this is really the roids era. He wasn't the only one taking them...of which hasn't been proven yet...but still...pitchers took them...other players did...but they still didn't put the ball in the stands.

As far as games...bonds did it in less games and less at bats...but I will say he is not a better all around hitter than Hank. He was just more of a slugger than hank.

I not so aggrovated about this because I think Bonds has taking too much of the bashing for steriod use when plenty of other people were/are using steriods but noone cares about talking about that. That being said I'm not a Bonds fan but I'm glad he got it so that we can stop hearing about it.

Oh come on, Bonds admitted to talking a drug and he claimed he didn't know it was steroids?

That's like Clinton saying he didn't have sexual relations with Monica.

If I was a MLB pitcher I would pull some extremely unsportsmanlike **** and intentionally walk his *** every time I was pitching against him. Atleast he didn't do it against Hank Aaron's team.

Re: Well, Bonds did it

Personally, I kinda like bonds...Sure, he is an arrogant a$$hole (which is probably the biggest reason that people dislike him, steroids aside)...but I respect him for being exactly who he wants to be and NOT who people think he should be...

and quite honestly, so what if he used steroids? Professional sports are nothing more than a high paying job, and you do what it necessary not only to keep your job, but to put FANS IN THE STANDS...MLB is no longer about the "soul of the game" and playing hard and all that "its a wonderful life" crap...MLB is simply a high priced business and putting a$$es in the seats is all that REALLY matters anyway...If taking some juice allows you to get a little bit stronger and hit the ball a little bit farther, big deal, it means that there is much more money for MLB...just think, MLB would probably be non-existant if it weren't for steroids (i.e. Mr.'s Mcguire and Sosa)...There are a lot more important things going on in this world than who used what steroid...

In the end, the records don't mean anything, the integrity of "the game" (talk about an oximoron...getting paid to play a so-called GAME) doesn't mean anything...all that really matters is getting people into the stadiums and making money...That is all major league sports are about, period...

I say "Go for it Barry, and Good luck to you!!"...if you wanna shrink your d!ck by 50% to be strong enough to hit the ball 50 feet further in order to make 50 million more dollars for yourself, for the Giants, and for MLB, go for it...MLB (and all other pro sports) are businesses, NOT games...

Never been a Bonds fan just because he is a massive dick, and I'm also not pleased he holds the record. This is why I'm hoping A-Rod will continue to keep up and pass Bonds once he retires. At least there is no roid controversy around him. (that I know of )

Maybe not...but there will be another controversy created. There always is when it comes to long standing records....people don't want to accept that their childhood heroes are going to be beat.

I'm telling you...some tree hugging baseball fan will come up with the fact that it was global warming that allowed him to hit the ball further because it made the air thinner.

he's good at baseball. i give him that. sucks that he was on roids though, if ur gonna do something like that, why screw everything up by using them...i mean, he probably couldve done it without them, and he would be so much more respected and proud of himself (which is probably bad ) but still.

i didnt want him to have it b/c hes a jerk though. i heard his college team voted to kick him off the team, but the coach wouldnt allow it b/c he was good

When do you think we will see that ball on eBay? I read that security escorted the guy that caught it away as soon as he had it in his hands.

They were kinda carrying him...he looked dazed and out of it a bit. The news reports he was bleeding...but I didn't see blood last night. It was quite the scramble for the ball though.

With my ninja powers, I actually lept out onto the field, traveling so fast that I could not be seen, grabbed the ball (which would have been a grounder along the left foul line), and threw it into the stands seemlessly. I then ran back to my seat, the one I threw it too, caught the ball, and disappeared leaving a fake ball in it's place. Therefore I caused the homerun and now have the real ball.

Exactly. My other point is just because you can benchpress 400 lbs(or whatever he does in reality) doesn't mean you can go out, hit a 95 mph fastball over 500 ft.... It does take talent to do that. Roids doesn't give talent, or increase hand eye coordination, or anything really that aids in the hitting of a baseball, other than the power behind it. I say give the man credit where credit is due and leave him the hell alone.

****ing EXACTLY. So ****ing what he took roids to make his muscles bigger.... Like I just said(I posted before I saw your post) just because you could benchpress a house, curl an elephant, or squat with an M1 on your back, still does not give you the capability to hit a baseball. That's like saying everyone in the gym who is over 5 10 weighs more than 220 lbs. and has less than 8 percent body fat can hit as many home runs as Hank Aaron.. Come on people, this isn't football that we are talking about here. Brute force will not put ball in the grandstands(granted it does help to have power).

As far as it being cheated, you people need to realize that 99 PERCENT of athletes cheat or have cheated in their life one way or another. It's the matter of whether or not they get caught or not.. See Oklahoma's football team.

Another note, everyone remember when McGuire was up for a record, go ****ing figure that some hater accused him of the same... I'm not a fan of baseball nor the afformentioned athletes, I just think that they did it, give them their credit and move on.

It does take talent to hit a baseball, however, assuming he did take steroids, it gave him the ability to hit the ball further than he could have with raw talent. Without 'roids, it may hav been 400 solid base hits and 356 home runs. I am not saying its impossible to do drug free, Aaron did it. He didn't even take vitamins during his career from what I've read.

Yeah. I like A-Rod, I'd like to see him do it for sure, even if he is a Yankee. And I hate the Yankees. Oh, I also don't like Bonds. It is too bad Hank Aaron is such a class act, because I would have loved him to say what he actually was thinking.
