No, he has his own mustang and that's part of the problem. He has his car, debit card and a girlfriend. He's using his bank card like it's free money and I can write a book of reasons he gives for every dollar he spends. Not to mention the F ing "D" he has in spanish, but that's a whole other book.

I know, but when you're a parent, it feels different. This cr@p is frustrating, as a parent, it's your job to make sure they grow up to be a responsible adult. Its hard pushing them to be the best they can be for 18 years and the last 3 years of those 18 is the hardest as they push back. If only I had a guarantee he would be fine. The life of a parent. Everyone reading this, call your parents and tell them you love them.

Being a teenager is harder than you think. There's a lot of pressure and a lot of things to worry about. Especially with electronics and stuff these days. Think back to when you were a teenager. Don't you remember the pressure from your future and other people along with other things that make it difficult.
This os not to say he shouldn't be responsible but just saying. It can be difficult to be young some times.

Re: Why does my son...

There is as much stress as a teenager as there is as an adult. Responsibility scales. A teenager isn't suppose to take care of kids and a wife and have a full time job but that doesn't mean he isn't dealing with stress at the level of a teenager.

Life doesn't just suddenly start getting stressful when you yell "Get off my lawn kid".

Wow ,you sound like someone's Dad ...........

I swore I'd never sound like or act like my Dad when I HAD KIDS ,But you know what ? you just can't help it , and once you grow up you realize that your Dad was probably right ,no matter how much you hate to admit it ....

Re: Why does my son...

Teenagers have a lot of stress these days that's for sure, but they are not there in consequences of their actions and I think that's the difference from when we were that age and now, for example when I wanted to live crazy rock n'roll the heck with some classes act my mum just cut me off financially (I lived there of course and food and house was given) but nothing else, no money for anything but school and that tought me.. from there I learn to financially (and pretty much every other area) take care of myself.

Re: Why does my son...

Not suggesting you should do that tough, just saying parents in general were more "practical" in those cases back then.

if we started teaching french, spanish, japanese etc. to our kids in first grade like other countries that require their kids to learn other languages early on.... it wouldnt be an issue.

we would all be bi/multi lingual by the time we're 15... not to mention have more tolerance and respect for other cultures.

not tryn to jack a thread... i know it's off subject. just my two cents.

I completely agree, well... not completely, but for the most part.

If I had learned another language in 1st through 6th grade, that's fine... but don't make me go waste almost $2500 in tuition costs for 3 classes of Spanish. Hell, the only reason I had to take any foreign language is because a B.S. wasn't offered in for my degree, so since I had to get the B.A., the foreign language department gets my money.

I understand the whole, "every other country learns other languages" argument, which is only partially true in itself. LOTS of other countries are bi/multi lingual, but they're also not a world power. If you want international success, you learn the languages of the industrial nations... and English is pretty universal when it comes to that. If I'm dealing with some guy in the real world thats speaking Durka durka derp durr language, I'll get a translator.

The whole foreign language thing in this country in generally is all kinds of back asswards, and it's hard to even implement something like that into a standardized way of teaching... but something needs to happen. Seriously, I took 2 years of spanish in high school, and 3 semesters in college... the last semester of college level spanish classes was last summer, and I probably couldn't go back to that class and actually PASS a single one of the tests that I pulled B's on as I was "learning" it.

Pointless. 100% waste of money and pointless.
