Cool Best Album of All Time

I've had this discussion multiple times with my musically aesthetic counterparts and it's primarily revolved around rock & roll. Now if you feel another genre is warranted to be considered "The Best Album of All Time" please feel free to post.

I'm at a tossup myself between Led Zeppelin IV & The Dark Side Of The Moon. Both VERY influential & creative masterpieces that will surely stand the test of time.

So what do you all think?

Couldn't resist.

I like too much different music to really pick out a best of....plus I usually don't like the whole album but just a subset.

Then you could say Motörhead because of how heavily influenced Metallica was by them.

Tool - Lateralus would be #1. Followed closely by Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.

I don't know if I could pick a whole album as a favorite. I listen to almost everything.

Where's Meteorachick? I know what hers is.

Anything by ABBA....lol...just kidding.

I have lots of favorites...hard to say what #1 is but I guess it's like wine...cheap or pricey it boils down to what you enjoy....definitely not Pop or bubblegum though...

#1 best selling album of all time is Michael Jackson's; "Thriller". Not necessarily the best btw.

Re: Best Album of All Time

As far as metal goes and Im not a huge Metallica fan but Master of Puppets was arguably one of the best and most influential metal albums of all time.

One of my favorites and alot of metal fans will agree was SLAYER regin in blood.

Before Slayer, there was Sabbath though. Sabbath influenced a ton of the metal that we now know today. You wouldn't put Sabbath in the running for best album?

Sabbath influenced every metal band of course. But Metallica influenced more of that thrash scene. Snowblind is one of my favorite Sabbath songs of all time,BTW.

Snowblind = 20 kinds of awesome. Sweet Leaf, Children Of The Grave, WAR PIGS, & Changes = outstanding as well. Sabbath did influence Pantera that most of us came to appreciate in the 90's.

Oh he'll yeah, all those Sabbath songs you listed are sweet as hell.....but you forgot Sabbath bloody sabbath.....great song. Panteras best album was Cowboys from hell IMO and there has been no band to replace them......except Lamb of God.

Pantera still did the best cover when they produced Planet Caravan. Truly outstanding.
