This Kid Could Have Won The Darwin Award

Quote:
A 14 year old boy from Brevard, North Carolina was nearly killed Sunday while trying to stop his Xbox 360 from overheating.

While his mother was away the boy had taken the power supply and wrapped it in plastic and tape. In an attempt to cool it off, he submerged it into a pan of water with the cord still plugged in. The boy had regained consciousness by the time paramedics had arrived. He was taken to the Transylvania Community Hospital in Brevard where he spent the night.
Aside from getting knocked unconscious the boy only suffered small burns to his right hand and foot.

Oh hell no

Microsoft should send over someone to laugh at him on a daily basis.

Re: This Kid Could Have Won The Darwin Award

now MS will have to issue a recall and make waterproof power supply's and cords.

just like the old Xbox power cord issue, two houses burn down and the issue is tracked to the outlet that coincidentally, both houses had xbox's attached to. MS just mans up and issues revised power cords with build in circuit breakers anyways.

The most effective warning label ever would read:

"Don't use this (insert item) if you are a ****tard"

Re: This Kid Could Have Won The Darwin Award

warning labels only protect those who have the mental capacity to read and understand them. people that should be reading them dont, the people that do are just like "yeah, well duh, of course inhaling burning substances is probably bad for you, theres reasons animals run from forest fires, and its not because its hot!"

IMO we should stop protecting people from themselves. dragging them along is acting like an anchor to our gene pool.

Re: This Kid Could Have Won The Darwin Award

Where did I blame Microsoft for anything? I was simply stating the fact that if his power supply hadn't been overheating, he wouldn't have tried to cool it off. He probably would have used the free time to go play in traffic or run with scissors.
