Supra or Viper?

Which is better? Which would you rather have? Discuss.

Well depends on what you want out of it. If its just strait line top speed. I would go supra, but for all around definately the viper!

Re: Supra or Viper?

Supra for me thanks. I fell in love with Supras back in my freshman year of highschool when this kid would get dropped off by their parents in one. It was all stock of course, but I loved how it looked. Then of course when I got into cars I realized the potential with those cars and that did it for me all over again. Definitely the supra, but I wouldn't follow the ricer crowd and do stupid **** to it.

Re: Supra or Viper?

viper b/c it's a v10 monster, and is a handler too. I love the look of them, minus where the spoiler meets the rear..but that's ok. and power all the way through the rpm's is good.

and..what's the last year they made a supra?

Re: Supra or Viper?

/\ ****ing right. Venom 1000 FTMFW... Over 1000 hp with pump gas and is sold with a warranty and can still pull over a lateral g when called upon. What else needs to be said?

And don't play the money card. Tell me you wouldn't have to spend 70-80k(not including the car) on a supra to make RELIABLE hp on PUMP gas and make it handle. Besides you could never spend enough money on a Supra to make it look like something the Hulk(if he could fit ) would drive. :yup:

Viper. I know I guy that gets one and you would not believe how many people stop and gawk at his car. You wouldn't get that in a Supra.

Not to mention the V10 and 335s on the back...

x2, Vipers are sexy. I know of a couple running around that are stupid-fast (blowers + nitrous).

I don't know a lot about Supras, but they have always seemed like they are built just to put down dick-feel-big dyno numbers.

IMO, you are 100% right. Supra's are dyno queens, they can put out great numbers, but it still amounts to little, especially when all the big number makers spend most of their time inside/under it.

Honestly, I don't know a whole lot about the reliability and sturdiness of the Viper block, but I am assuming it must be pretty darn tough and well built if the Venoms are warrantied at that much HP, and it seems like a LOT of Vipers are running blowers, and N2O with a lot of success and great numbers as well.

So how good are the blocks really? I dont ever hear about anyone blowing one up, but then you dont happen to know more than 2 people that own one. So how good are they?

I agree with Nate.

A Vipers just a higherend car than a Supra. Don't get me wrong Supras are badass cars and can handle a ton of boost stock, but a Viper has 8+ liters to work with and from my understanding they have an extremely strong IRS and if you build the motor the Vipers block will withstand over 2,000 hp.

GTR > Supra IMO.

Exactly. And besides, how many Supra's have you ever seen with the front tires up in the air..... and two inches doesn't count. Yes, I know that a fully optimized suspension will not allow the car to fully put tires in the air, but come on, nothing like a car that you can stand under at the 60' mark. :yup:

Re: Supra or Viper?

viper ftw as others have said supras are big time dyno queens. this may not sound right to any of you but this past weekend at MIR i witnessed an 800+hp supra barely break into 12's.

thats because the owners rarely set them up for quarter mile. stock supra is setup much like a Terminator, to go fast on the freeway. setting it up for pure 1/4 is, IMO, a waste of its potential.

however a properly setup supra will do the quarter just as good as any other car setup for the quarter.

I would rather have a Viper though. theyre just ****ing awesome, like i tell my cousin whenever he drives up from Arizona, if i hit the lottery, one of his vipers will be my first purchase. strangely a GT500KR is likely his next. ****er has money out the *** (President of some nationwide auction agency and does real-estate out of peurto penasca on the side)

Re: Supra or Viper?

I would take the viper, just for the ease of modding... no need for huge *** turbos and crazy spool time to get a swift kick in the ***

+ I love how they look/ feel in the cockpit/etc
