Header coating. Ceramic vs. Chrome/painted with header wrap

What is the big difference between having painted headers with a liberal amount of header wrap all the way to the collectors vs. having a ceramic coated header with no header wrap. What is the hp loss with the wrapped headers?

Ceramic is used to help keep under hood temps down and keep the exhaust gases hot. Paint and heat wrap will do the same thing if wrapped properly. Wrap can be replaced, coatings need repair.

Performance differences are probably non existent.

Thank you, I knew the ceramic lowered temps but I was wondering if I could get away with the same thing using wrap. You definitely just helped me choose which headers to go with. On that note, do you know if there's any differences to header wrap material?

So about how much header wrap should I need for a set of long tubes? Right now I'm looking at 2" x 50' worth of wrap. That should be enough to go to the collector right?

Re: Header coating. Ceramic vs. Chrome/painted with header wrap

But coated headers last a lot longer ( rust etc ..) than painted .......
and stainless are the best

I'm not sure how much wrap you're going to need. I've never used wrap before, so I have not history to base it on.
