Re: Guitar hero 3 song list is awesome!!

iirc the one coming from the MTV camp had a bit better playlist, just because theyre MTV and they can get whoever the hell they want on a game, or else their career is over if they dont sign. personally both games are going to be pretty much the same gameplay wise, so ill likely get both.

however they got the song for my car, "Ruby" by Kaiser Chiefs. Vary nice. Muse "Knights of Cydonia" will be a fun one as well, as will "One" by Metallica, however i wouldve much rather had one of my more favorites, "Whiskey in a Jar"

Metallica and AC/DC will not allow themselves to appear on such a "demeaning" game so that all their loyal fans can pretend to play some of their greatest hits. They are too cool for that.

And in case you couldn't sense the sarcasm...That was sarcasm.

Re: Guitar hero 3 song list is awesome!!

I am gonna call bull**** on a lot of those songs...one there has never been a teir 10...goes up to like 6 or 7. I have spent many and many hours playing GH 1+2. Also some of those songs and bands no matter how great, I just dont see them doing. Love Trivium, infact GTHOT is one of my favorite songs. KSE, BfmV, Children of Bodom, all great bands that I listen to regularly, but I dont see them putting that kind of metal on the game. Same with Dragonforce and Lamb of God. Maybe as downloadable songs, but not in the game. I sure hope I am wrong.

also hope the classics are gonna be on there...I would love to play some Stevie and Clapton, along with Zepplin. That was the problem with 2. The newer metal songs etc were cool to play. But Texas Flood and Crossroads, songs like that from the first ones were the best. They were just pure fun to play.

I have been trying to find an actual Red Octane list with no avail, but I think that is just one of those lists people make up that they would like.

Dont matter anyhow though, got the game already on pre-order. Gonna go down and do the same for rock band after I get paid.

yeah if you read farther its more of yet another persons list of songs they would like to see on the game. 1 or 2 of the ones he listed might make the actual game, just by luck he picked them.

sucks, cause that list owns all, and the Wiki list sucks balls.

They do put that kind of metal on there. All That Remains, Shadows Fall and Lamb Of God ARE on GH2.

Re: Guitar hero 3 song list is awesome!!

Two more things.... Thomas I have lost respect for you since you cheer the Sum41....I hate them and can only tolerate one of their songs... :barf:

And Layla was not done by Eric Clapton... It was Derek and the Dominos(which consisted of[for this song] Eric Clapton, Duane Allman[of the Allman Brothers], Carl Radle, Jim Gordon, and Bobby Whitlock) ... :yup: [/smartass]

As far as the song list...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OMGZWWORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Final Countdown is on there(ever since the thunderbirds played them at their air shows and before that, I have loved this song for all it's wholesome goodness)!!!!! Metallica is on there!!!!!!!! KICK ***!!!!

i only like a few of their songs as well. they are a pretty redundant band, they know what chord patterns make the songs that sells, and they use those every time.

Whiskey in a Jar by Dropkick Murphys? I don't look at these songs list.

You know what's better than playing Guitar Hero? Playing a real guitar. Oh and everything else.

I believe he redid it 20 or so years later. Don't quote me on that timeframe though.

That's cool Bullitt, at least you're learning to play (I also have other reasons I do not like that game). Personally I find so many things wrong with that game and it makes me mad.

On an unrelated note, I want this: '72 Telecaster Deluxe  If I can ever save enough up for it.

Yeah, I have to say there are some pretty screwed up things, like "covering" the songs instead of the actual original songs, in some cases.... But once I played it, I couldn't help but forget about why I didn't want to.

The game is fun but certain covers are particularly annoying. Such as Freebird.

yeah, it sucks cause if you want the real deal, you have to get permission, which unless you pay royalties, you are looking at big legal issues. if you do get permission, then you have to pay the royalties, which means if every song had to pay royalties, the game company would never ever make any money off the game, for a 50$ game, 100$ of that would need to go to royalties, so theres a huge loss right there. another reason why record companies ****ing suck.

Re: Guitar hero 3 song list is awesome!!

No matter what the company will have to pay royalties. It's just a hell of a lot cheaper to buy the music from the "band" (and by band I mean record company) and have their own musicians play them and then just pay other royalties for whatever deal they worked out (might be something like for every game they sell the "band" gets a certain percentage of profit, or somewhere along the lines).

yeah, paying royalties to no name band is a hell of alot cheaper than royalties to the actual band. hell, "No Name Band" will probably be content with a payout ("here kids, heres 200$ for your contributions") than long-term royalties (IE a percentage of each sale)

Re: Guitar hero 3 song list is awesome!!

Well the actual bands will be getting royalties for the work no matter what. They could have a bum playing the kazoo on the soundtrack and the game will have to shell out royalties to the actual band too. I'm sure the game's audio programmers are the cover bands since it's cheaper to pay them to do work they already would be doing, buy the sheet music from the band and at the end of the fiscal year pay the actual band something like $10 per game sold as a royalty.

But yeah I could see the record company getting some local garage band to cover the songs and pay 'em like $200 and take them to Quiznos for lunch or something.

If I remember correctly the band that plays the music for the game also work on the game. Most of the people who made the game are musicians.
