I want the god damned local channels in HD over the satellite. I'll get the 21 national channels they just started broadcasting on the 18th, when they come out and put the new satellite dish on the side of the house.

Seriously, because what is the ratio of football games you watch on the local channels compared to channels like ESPN? Like 10:1?

Re: DirectTV HD Channels Expand

I've got the NFL Sunday Ticket so I can watch all the NFL games. You've got to pay even more to get the Superfan bull**** so you can get them all in HD. They carry the local channels in regular-*** definition, which wouldn't be a problem if I could get the locals over-the-air. Unfortunately, I'm on the wrong side of the hill. Booo. I got this satellite **** because it was going to be cheaper than cable. By the time you've added all the **** that you need (as an HD junkie) it ends up being just as, if not more, expensive than the cable did. It will get me more HD channels, but there will only be two or three that I'll actually care about. I think I'd rather just have the locals. :dunno:

I know you can't wait for Cartoon Network HD though. I mean come on. And your probably going to get 2 TiVO's just to make sure you don't miss any of CMT HD.

Re: DirectTV HD Channels Expand

what is this i hear Dish network lost some court battle and will stop broadcasting soon?

i ****ing hate dish. we upgraded to a HD Reciever when we got our 55" Widescreen, and just got the reciever, nobody ever told us we had to get the HD Dish for the roof as well. so for about a year ive been telling my dad his TV looks like **** compared to other setups ive seen. Well they get a 42" HDLCD for their room and he goes to get a second HD Reciever and the lady on the phone was like "sir, do you have a HD Dish yet?" so we had to order the HD Dish as well, so now we have two Dish's on the roof, one HD, one standard. THEN listen to this ****. The HD Reciever with the PVR counts as 2 Recievers, so that means then we could only have the HD Reciever in the living room, and just one other standard reciever (maximum 4 recievers on our plan) and any other reciever would need to be purchased outright. guess who lost TV for a month, yeah, Me. However the HD Reciever with the built in PVR has a secondary tuner, which we ran to my room, so i got all the HD stuff on my normal TV. you want to know what HD Channels on a standard TV looks like? just as good as they do on a HDTV. but what does my dad do? orders a 5th standard receiver for my room, and runs the HD Secondary to the garage, while i was at work.
