Netflix Stock Gets Slammed

Netflix (NFLX) stock drops after members jump ship - Tech Talk - CBS News

I use Netflix but only Instant Viewing. 8 bucks a month is awesome for the amount of movies and TV shows that have.

Re: Netflix Stock Gets Slammed

I have the DVD and streaming for now, my price increase will be next week I believe. Although I am not ready to change anything yet, I am glad they are seeing what such a drastic price increase is doing to their business.

Maybe it will make the next company think about such increases.

I dropped down my dvd's and kept the streaming and ended up saving money each month. The streaming is nice, but, I won't switch to only streaming until they start getting more new releases on there as well as some other movies. However, it is real nice for watching TV Series I don't have the chance to watch during the week or due to not having the channel.

To be honest I don't think it was fueled entirely by greed. They are trying to stronghold the movie companies to push them to more streaming options. They just showed their hand way to soon. Just my thoughts on it.

It's claimed it is because the streaming rights are costing more and more so it is needed to not end up in the red. If that is in fact what it is for, then I am ok with it...as long as you start moving towards streaming all of the movies.

Your probably right, I just hate it went up 7$ a month more for me and they don't add more new releases to stream.

Re: Netflix Stock Gets Slammed

For me, I am moving away from Cable and physical media. I don't even have Cable TV in my new apartment. First time in my life I will not have a cable subscription. Just internet. I use Netflix to watch TV and movies and bars to watch sports. Works fine for me.

Re: Netflix Stock Gets Slammed

if you have only streaming, does your cable provider start to limit you?
I know here with Comcast a friend switched off cable and now just does netflix and internet and now comes pretty close to saturating the amount of bandwidth they allow!

I don't watch nearly enough Netflix to make a dent in bandwidth over a month. I never really watched a whole lot of tv though. Just dvr the shows I want and get around to them when I felt like watching them.

Yeah I dropped my account when we got notice of the price increase. I found that it's better to use redbox for the new DVDs it's only a dollar a movie.

Re: Netflix Stock Gets Slammed

I just joined last month because the local Blockbuster closed. I stuck with BB because I liked being able to browse, read the boxes & rent what I wanted when I wanted it. I'm not a big movie renter (1-3 a month) so I didn't mind paying the higher prices. Netflix had a 1 month free trial for the streaming service and the DVD's so I'm trying them both. I don't see much of interest in the streaming service and it's just going to get worse since Starz isn't renewing its contract with Netflix. I'm probably going to cancel & use Redbox.

I did the same thing when I moved to my new place back in July

it's going well so far, only time it's difficult is trying to find something to watch when you have friends over who want to throw on the TV..
