Don't know about bees, but wasps do. We have these giant red wasps in MO that are always carrying off spiders and cicadas. One of them stung me on the side of my face once. The initial sting wasn't any worse than any other bee or wasp, but after about 30 minutes it felt like the whole side of my head was on fire and it swelled up something terrible. Now I avoid them like the plague and give them a wide berth whenever I see them.

A little spider ditty I made up long ago,

Spider spider on the wall.
Ain't you got no sense at all.
Can't you see that wall's just been plastered?
Get off there you silly bas****!

It looked too small to be a wasp but I could be wrong either way it was pretty awesome.

I once watched a yellow jacket crawl under a wolf spiders web and "cut" out all the fresh catches it had and steal them the spider come running out each time right over wear the wasp was and couldnt figure out what was going on my best guess was that the spiders eyes being affixed to the top of his head impeded his ability to see the wasp under him it was truelly awsome to watch sorta like if some one were to watch a spy at work right under his enemies nose.
