need a little help from the creative people...

so, I'm attempting to make a ring out of a scrap piece of glass I have for my gf. just for the heck of it...its no big deal or anything. so I was wondering if anybody could give me some help on how i could go about it...

theres a pic of it...

its just colored glass, and yes i have a torch, but not any artistic skill or anything haha

It shouldn't make a difference.

Scratch the glass around the shape you desire with the corner of a file or graver; then, having bent a piece of wire into the same shape, heat it red hot and lay it upon the scratch and sink the glass into cold water just deep enough for the water to come almost on a level with its upper surface. It will rarely fail to break perfectly true. Then you can use a polishing stone or fine grit sand paper and wet sand it smooth. It's not gonna be easy.

haha that sounds like a challenge...how would I make a ring though? could I do it twice, once for the outside and once for the inside?

You might wanna practice on another piece of glass.
Yeah, try using wire hanger make the outer ring slightly bigger then desired and the smaller one even smaller so you can have room to make adjustments

Another method you might wanna try is to make a mold/die outa wood and heat the glass to the melting point and pour it into the mold. But it would take a lot of polishing to make it look good.
