Going un-digital? *Completely random warning*

I've started to notice recently that when listening to my iPod in the car, or wherever, I have "music ADD" and usually switch songs about every 45 seconds; this results in me spending more time searching for songs rather than actually enjoying my 12,000+ song library. I've also noticed that if I listen to a CD I tend to listen more than browse. After doing some thinking and a little research, I sold my iPod (got a little 2nd gen. iPod shuffle though to listen to while I run). Tomorrow, I am going to go pick up 100 CD-Rs and an expandable CD binder to stick them all in. After that, I am going to put my cd burner through it paces and start burning my favorite albums to CD. I doubt I will ever burn my entire collection to CD, that would take FOREVER, but I am thinking I will eventually burn 300-500 cds. Anybody else going un-digital? Other random pointless posts you want to make?

I am un-digital...mostly because I think ipods are retarded and my cd player in the car doesn't play mp3s....so...I too burn a set of songs to disc and live with it.

Re: Going un-digital? *Completely random warning*

im perfectly content with a CD-R/RW with 150 or so MP3's on it (or however much the disc can hold). i have 3 MP3 CD's that is basically all i listen to. one is almost all trance/dance, one is hard rock/metal (All that Remains, Trivium, Tool, As i Lay Dying, etc), one is my favorites (Linkin Park Hybrid Theory+Reanimation, Fuel Sunburn, etc). once in a while i will make a new MP3 CD with all the newer stuff on it but it usually ends up elsewhere.

I will be likely looking into Sirius in the future, weve lost yet another local station to the mexican hat-dance crap. its now either 3 country stations, 1 alternative, 1 adult hits/top 40, 1 classic rock, and 40 spanish stations. thankfully the Alpine deck i have is already XM/Sirius and iPod ready.

I hear you on that, the only reason I got an iPod was because it cost me next to nothing (free + a replacement harddrive for $50 on eBay). I only got the iPod shuffle because of the built-in clip so I can just clip it to my shirt when I run if I don't wear shorts with a pocket...I definitely think the SanDisk mp3 players are way better for the money.

I am doing normal cd's, not mp3s cd's, still too much urge to hit next. I am keeping my XM radio, mostly because its only $7 a month.

I absolutely hate musical ADD. It's bad enough to just listen to songs from different bands or albums. But listening to a minute of a song and going to the next drives me crazy.

Same here.

I just do strait cds. No mp3 player here at all. Never have owned an iPod, and probably never will.

i take out all the songs from albums i usually hit next on. so unless im really not in the mood for a certain song, or i want to hear another one really bad (used to listen to "Rosetta Stoned" every morning on my way to work) the next button doesnt get used. the up-down album/folder select does though.

I do CD's... not too efficient but it works. It's hard for me to figure out how to quickly navigate 8,000+ songs.

Re: Going un-digital? *Completely random warning*

I have some music ADD...annoying but it is really only when I have the Zune hooked up in the truck and on occasion MP3 cds...but mainly it is if it is a genre I am really just not in the mood for.

But I do one of two thing most of the time. Listen to my Sirius....dont mess with it until a song I dont like or not in the mood for comes on, then I pop it to another station, stays there until the same. I do a lot less flipping on my Sirius. Plays lots of good music.

Second is I bought 4 1Gb USB flash drives real cheap awhile back. I have one for Rock/metal, one for Country, one for hip-hop/rap, and one that is just a mix...typically where the poppish type music ends up. dont do much hitting next there either. Every once in awhile I will change out the songs on there and go.

Re: Going un-digital? *Completely random warning*

why not make playlists?

i have a bunch of playlists on my ipod... depending on my mood and what type of genre i want to listen... all the songs that i might want to listen to are neatly organized by a bunch of playlists.

Psh....I've gone back to FM radio, I haven't played a CD in my car for any amount of time in quite a while. Never saw the point in MP3 players...

WTAK is good...usually. But I really haven't listend to FM radio in awhile. and for Country WDRM is hard to pass off as a station that sucks. Rocket much anymore I dont really care for, still has it moments, and as for the rest, yeah I will agree.

I have Classic Vinyl or Buzzsaw on Sirius that is better....one for more of the Santana, Clapton, and Stevie, while the other is more of AC/DC, Van Halen, etc station....and the best part...no 10 minutes of comercials...just music and a dj. (I personally enjoy having a dj come on every few minutes, breaks it up a bit and most on Sirius are pretty good.)

WTAK is probably the most tolerable of all of them. I do like the older guy that dj's in the afternoon.

WDRM has a small playlist IMO, and they WAAAYYYY overplay new songs that weren't that great to begin with. Yeah, the rocket just all around wins the suckfest.

There's a country station here that literally plays everything. Sure, they play the top 40, but you have to listen for several hours to hear a repeat.

There's also lots of good stations like that down along the gulf area.

You're not going analog (un-digital). CD is still a digital format.

HD radio, btw, is a digital broadcast. They broadcast other information, like song title and artist, too. It's like satellite radio, but from a tower.

That is pretty much how WDRM is...however they seem to use the same playlist everyday...almost set a watch to a song...that is why I started bringing the zune to work...brought in some old computer speakers and go to town with it playing.
