You should be good man, as long as you just find your next flight and know when it leaves then just be on time.... Hawaii is gorgeous by the way!!

Thankfully all our connections land and take off out of the same terminal

Re: First time flier tips

A long flight like that make sure once you get through security buy a bottle of water. Have everything packed so you can get to it as you walk up in line to security. Make sure things are already out of your pocket and in your backpack or wife's purse. The only time I suggest walking with your shoes untied (which you untie while waiting in line), if you do that...Just do what TSA tells you...and you should be fine...Ask your flight attendant if they now what gate your next flight is leaving from, some airlines will do that. If not as soon as you get off look for the screens and proceed to the next flight.

Enjoy...Hawaii is beautiful, lived there for 2.5 years.

I would also say that you should leave behind anything that remotely looks like a knife or anything!... Also don't be like some idiots and put things like shampoo bottles in their cary on bags!... Leave all that crap in you luggage!... And if your military and they ask to see your ID!.. Show your military one because that usually helps!...

Thanks everyone security should be fine I think, once we land we are NOT leaving the secure area an according to American airlines as long as we dont leave the terminal we don't have to go back thru security

Re: First time flier tips

well you should have no trouble having time between connections if its an hour at least between them... if the flight gets delayed they can reschedule you etc.

I would look up the gate the flights will be arriving and departing from when that information is available (it can change so keep up to date on it)

if the gates change maybe have a printout so you know where to go.

make sure your bags you check are not over the weight limit, also carry ons can be a given size so make sure you are not oversized there.

other than that its a LONG trip out there so have something to take up your time

Re: First time flier tips

I go through security all the time with liquids and such I follow the TSA rules 3-1-1.

I hate checking luggage, such a pita.

If you check your luggage out side-make sure you tip the Sky Cap. Suggested tip is about $5 a bag. These guys will save you time. (which I always need.) You can check inside at the counter for no tip.

Connections if they are all with American, they will keep it pretty straight. Never flown them though, I've heard they are bad at customer service.

Just relax on the plane and remember these pilots do this day in and day out and most love what they do for a living. Music is always nice to have. I like to read and look out the window. It's also fun to surf the web at 30,000 feet.

Have fun!
