Fixed Width Style

I am playing with the idea of making the forum fixed width. Meaning it will be about 960px wide and centered. This will help control the content and keep things proportioned correctly and make designing everything easier on my end. Not to mention it will completely match the main page

However you guys can be ******** when something changes and you don't like it

So I figured I'd start a poll and get your feedback and approval. If it's going to be a problem it can stay. So speak your mind.

I may be able to hack it up where you can choose either without having to keep new styles up. If I can do that then I will change it and allow you to be able to choose fluid or fixed.

Why even ask, we all know this is the internet's Nazi camp. You act like we actually have a say in what happens around here...

Actually, I'd be interested to see what this new setup looks like, because to be honest it's kinda hard to tell you which one I like better without messing around with one of the choices.

what ever makes it easier to manage cuz that just means more time to not manage and more time to work on other developments.

Hard to say. Give it a trial run for a few days, if you think it'll be good.

Re: Fixed Width Style

As a GUI programmer, I can honestly say bad, bad, bad idea. You should try to avoid fixed anything whenever possible. With the popularity of surfing the net on low resolution devices (ie phones) these days, it will make the forums very difficult to read for a lot of users.

Even allowing to choose will likely not help, because some people (such as myself) uses different devices to read the forums at different times.

sure you can. just dont let anybody know and keep IE installed, that way youre not "changing" any browser, you are just choosing not to use an inferior product.

my IT guy said "Firefox does not work with our network" when he tried to delete it. i laughed at him, was like "dude did you just say that?" now everytime hes around i open Firefox on our new network just to rub it in that he has absolutely no idea wtf he is doing.

brent id say just change it for a bit and see what happens.

Re: Fixed Width Style

I can make a different version of the forum if enough people want it (aka *****) for a cellphone version of the forum. Other than that fixed should work fine for normal IE and Firefox usage
