Hello

Goofed off from work yesterday afternoon and took the mustang to get the tires rotated and balanced.

The mustang is ready for the road to Atlanta.

Finally meeting my neighbor with the red 13/14 GT as I saw him loading up new tires into his car. Chatted for a few minutes. Nice guy.

What made you smile today...?

Had to take the tank out to put the new trunk, trunk extensions, tail light housing, driver rear quarter panel, and passenger rear quarter skin, install. Still need to put the rear valance on it.
But it's my calling, it's not work, to me to restore classics. I save both of mine, one was going to get crushed and the other used for parts. I bought them both and I'm restoring them. I love what I do, I might not make a killing but I'm happy. That's all that matters.

In with ya in that. I did body work once upon a time and I miss it all the time. But it's a tough way to support a family which is ultimately why I switched gears.

I absolutely hate body work haha. I like painting of though. Maybe because I just don't know how to
Do it really so all I do is sand and add more filler or I'll add to much hardener and it will be too hard to sand

People I worked for stated the money was in the insurance jobs. But they hated when they had to do State Farm jobs. Which I worked for a summer then back to school. Learned a little and applied it to my Challenger. But I got someone else to install the new pieces. I'm worst than useless when it comes to lining the body up. Which I have to remove the powertrain, this week. I'll be cleaning and painting the engine while I'm waiting on the body. Plus, I'll be acquiring the last remaining parts I need to finish it.

Well you always make good money when you

A- have the right tools which cost a ton

&

B- work at a reputable shop that is a preferred insurance drop off

I had most of this but owed the tool truck about 15k.

Insurance says to skin a door is 8 hours at x amount shop rate and you make 30% of that. Well you get paid the 8 hours if it takes you 10 or 2. Have all the expensive tools and it's done in 2-3 then you get paid 8. Some weeks I could get paid 100+ hours, some weeks people just were not crashing cars and business could be slow.

I didn't enjoy the sanding but more the disassembly and cutting/welding & satisfaction of seeing a crashed car back to life.

It's similar to what I'm doing now, working on dealership cars. Which it doesn't happen often, but it does happen. Not faulting them at all, it takes a man to admit he's wrong. And there's things we can't fix too, that only they can fix. But you're right access to top quality tools is a very good perk. And reputation is like night and day in my town.

Nice. I'll install mine unpainted, since I'm getting a warranty repaint.

I've heard you mention the warranty repaint a few times before, why is ford re-painting your car?
