Re: I Am Legend

it was pretty badass. ending is abrupt but thats about it. probably his best acting work thus far, some scenes were pretty heart wrenching (dog lovers will know what im talking about). Think of it as CastAway with guns and sub-human creatures.

btw he means that Will Smith's character has a freaking arsenal at his disposal. but yeah, i did feel pretty unarmed afterwards.

Re: I Am Legend

I saw it on Saturday afternoon and thought it was a good movie...

I have to say that this movie deserves at least some nominations for "Best Supporting Cast" for their use of mannequins...If only all movies would use mannequins to replace some of the crappy so-called "actors" that play in them...

other than the fact that he has handguns stored throughout his complex/home whatever that he is always within arms reach from one that is hidden. When he opened his closet to leave he has like 10 guns, shelves of ammo, etc. M16's, Shotguns, AK's iirc, etc.

Re: I Am Legend

sounds like my kind of man

I feel kind of the same. I guess I'm kind of paranoid but I have a gun in both cars, one in the den, one in the bedroom and the rest in the safe with about 1500 rounds of ammo and 2 cases of MRE's

Most of Will's movies are either you love it or you hate it. IMO

Personally I love his movies.

heres an interesting tidbit (Spoiler:highlight to read)

how did Fred really get there? did he move him there to give himself a bit of excitement, or did the darkhuggers move fred in order to lure him there into one of his on traps? that would propose the darkhuggers or whatever still have the ability to think and strategize, was the alpha male smart enough to figure out how the traps work and figure out how to lure his prey into one of his own traps?

Re: I Am Legend

spoiler talk.. don't highlight if you don't want in...

I think the point of that was to show that they still have human characteristics... like planning, cunning, and revenge. If you notice, that scene happened basically right after he said that KB had caused them to loose all of their human character. Their "de-humanization or whatever. So I'm pretty sure that was to help show that they would always be human and have the ability to utilize what makes us human, and that is our fantastic brain power.

Re: I Am Legend

more spoilerz included below:

not to mention when the alpha stepped into the sunlight when Smiths guy captured the female specimen, perhaps to also show that they even felt emotion still.

i wish they would have elaborated more on the darkhuggers still having some basic human traits. perhaps at the end instead of them continuing to attack, the alpha could have seen that the specimen lived and was transformed back to mostly human.

Re: I Am Legend

spoiler
yeah, I think it would've made for a better ending if the alpha had shown at least some compassion for the man that was just trying to make them better. But maybe that was to show that KB had also made them more animal like. Just like a lion, if you piss it off too much, it doesn't matter, it'll try to kill you when it gets a chance. Though there are some people like that now. And maybe the guy didn't understand that she was better. KB could've altered the communication center of the brain so he couldn't understand him. It truly is all Fred's fault... but at least Fred got smoked for his treachery.

Re: I Am Legend

Spoiler Info: Don't Highlight

If you read the book, there are two types of dark seekers...There are the "smart" ones that evolve and learn to manipulate the world around them, much the way humans do, and then there are the "dumb" ones which are purely animalistic, rabid animals that go for blood, period...In the book, the smart ones are trying to eradicate the dumb ones, along with all humans in order to "strengthen" their species...It's the typical idea of "natural selection"...

In the movie, they only really suggest that there are some smarter ones, or in this case, a single smart one which you called the alpha male...He was the one standing in the doorway watching Neville (will smith) trap that female one with the rope/sack/weight contraption which is what he later used to trap will smith...He saw what smith did and replicated a nearly exact contraption...

My assumption was that Fred was moved there sometime during the night before...

And another note, about the ending, after I left the movie, I had this feeling that there was more to the story and that it ended rather "abruptly", but the more I have thought about it, the ending was perfect...In the sense that the movie wasn't so much about blood-sucking rapid zombies, but more it was simply about one man's quest to fix a world problem...in this case a virus that makes blood-sucking zombies...Giving his life to find what he believed to be the cure was the real purpose of the movie...Whether or not his "cure" worked was kind of a moot point...The fact that he gave his life for that so-called cure was all that matter...It's up to the viewer to decide whether or not the cure actually worked...

Re: I Am Legend

i am in the process of reading the book and i watched it last night, i felt like the book was severely picked through. there was so much more!!----SPoIlEr>>>>>like i remember that the book was all about him fighting his animalistic urges to drink himself to death and his sexual desire to get "some" if you know what im talkin bout. What happend to all the alchol and the women flashing him all the time? and Ben Cortman screaming "come out neville!" and the pit where he threw the dead bodies of the one that didnt make it out of the sunrise? and his wifes grave? and the whole book was based in CALIFORNIA!!!! not friggin NEW YORK? needless to say, i felt like this book had SO MUCH POTENTIAL that just got $#!+ canned in order to save a buck. i was severely dissapointed.
