New Twist To the energy bill

Sorry CARB: EPA says states can't regulate their own emissions - Autoblog

Looks like there might be a bright side after all. California now can not exceed Federal Emission regulations

Re: New Twist To the energy bill

We're still emissions free here in Alberta which is nice.... how long that'll last for these days though, who the hell knows.

It's also kinda nice having a car built back in 83 because with it becoming 25 years old, there's no way they can include it in the same regulations as the new stuff on the showroom floor. How do they work it in the regulated States right now? Anything 20-25+ must have some different rules.

It's different per state. Some states anything over 15 is exempt...some it is 20 or 25. Others like commiefornia I believe are still pretty strict on the classics as well...just not as tough as the new cars.

I know in NY...you could run open headers on anything 15 years old or older I believe it was. As long as it met the noise ordinances...it was fine.
