Charter cable Blows Monkey Balls

Just a rant about how bad Charter is and what happened to put them on my top 10 companies to bring to there knees. last year I was headed home from work and noticed approx 10 Charter trucks and Fire trucks in my neighborhood. What had happened was something out of a Sci Fi movie. A huge power spike traveled down the main cable trunk to my neighborhood. So powerful it actually caused areas of ground to burn as well as burning up the random junction boxes that houses hook up to. For about a day they did not know what had happened then a contract company came forward and said they were working on a water main along the main street that runs in front of my neighborhood cut into the Duke Energy buried power line and the buried cable line at almost the exact time causing the backhoe blade bridged the power line to the cable line. The driver was not killed but was thrown off the backhoe. When they saw what happened they just buried everything and took off. The power surge that came down the cable line last year claimed a 37"TV, Cable Modem, VCR player, AV Switch, Wireless router, Onkyo TX-SR 747 receiver, Son computer Video Card, and TV tuner card. Some died instantly, others died a slow death. I had surge protectors on all computers and AV equiptment but not the coax cable line. The spike blow out most of the neighborhood approx 325 homes for 2 weeks as they had to lay out new trunk lines and junction boxes. They have sued a contract company for the incident but Charter refuses to pay to fix any of the loss equipment except giving me a new Modem and that was a lengthy ordeal since I owned my modem box. Charter SUX, I am stuck using them for internet because the only option is dial up where I live, no DSL available. I am switching to Direct or Dish next month. I am so over Charters monopoly here. I pay $107 for basic cable and internet. Chanels 4 thru 13 and 60 thru 78 are so fuzzy now they are not watchable. I had them put new lines running to my house and they already put new lines throught the neighborhood but they wont change the lines inside the house unless I want to pay them for it. Hell No!! I can get Dish or Direct 45% cheaper and they will install new lines thoughout the house BY GOD.

Re: Charter cable Blows Monkey Balls

Wow, my fiancee got Charter Cable and they've been nothing but a headache. She recently moved into a new apartment and had no choice but to get Charter Cable, so she called them up for an appointment to come out and install the cable to their TV's and internet access.

She called 3 times for them to come out and finally after a week they came out and did everything. So things were fine for awhile until they wanted to change the name on the billing information. We went over there and told them to change the billing information to another name but the same address. We came home and all the cable in the house was out.

How ****ing stupid is this? Change your name and the moron thinks you don't want cable anymore and the cable goes out. So we called them and ranted as they hung up on us earlier and they reset the cable signal. Good, we got our channels back.

Oops! Somehow in just changing the ****ing name on the billing information they took out some of the premium channels that my fiancee is paying for!

****, Charter has some pretty ****ing stupid people who work there.

Comcast is good depending on where you live. The last place I had in Meridian I got the full premium setup with internet for 50 bucks a month. I'm paying that now in Jackson for regular cable and no internet. Go figure...

i just found out all my intraweb problems were due to my router. :dunno: my internet was always ****ing up too. AT&T/SBC for me, though my buddy has Comcast with their speed boost and i think he said he can spike at 32mbps for a minute or two and then it throttles down to around 16mbps.

Still hate DishNetwork though

Yeah, you have to be careful with routers. Some of the ****tiest products sold to mankind are routers.
