Unique Whips (Tv Show)

Who here actually watches it and likes it? I have yet to ever see them do a vehicle that I was impressed with or even liked. They always seem to do stuff that simply looks bad... I catch myself watching it from time to time just to see what they will screw up.

I dont see how some of the people that go there actually like what they spend a ton of money on to get.

Any opinions on this show?

Re: Unique Whips (Tv Show)

It makes me think I need to go open a shop lol. He really doesn't do anything major besides putting wheels/tires and stereos in and makes a killing at it. The few major projects they do are pretty cool, but still nothing spectacular.

Them: Hey look, a tahoe/suburban/hummer/escalade/magnum, let's put a square box in the back and put a trim panel around it and charge them 10000 dollars. O yeh, and for another 15000 we'll mount a set of 22's with Pirelli's.

Re: Unique Whips (Tv Show)

I like Remi (sp?). I think he can do some serious stereo work when it is called for.

As for the show. The head guy is a ****** bag. He doesn't do ****. There was one episode where he was all up in the wheel guys face when he was struggling with putting some 24's on an SUV. He sat his fat *** down and was completely winded trying to put one on...of which he didn't even get on.

The uplostry guy is pretty good too. Other than that, the shop is way over priced, but its that way to get all the ballers in there.

Re: Unique Whips (Tv Show)

i like it, they do clean installs. Remy is pretty cool and does awesome work. the shop is pricey but thats how everything is in that business, gotta pay for that kind of work and quality. the only build i thought was questionable was the one that they spraypainted all the interior stuff blue, but iirc they didnt want to do it anyways and provided no warranty for fading/cracking since it was per the customers request.

if you can do that type of install you could make a killing. for what i did for my buddy someone was saying i could have charged around 2-3k for that kind of work (including the parts). but thats also a very hard business to have success in, because one small mistake, one pissed off customer, ruins your shops reputation and thats it for that.

The show really doesnt do it for me. I like shows like Overhaulin' and Muscle Car, where real work is done. Engine swaps and such. Fine tuned is a good show too but the down fall is its all ricers.

I like Wrecks to Riches. Really the only show I can catch with my work schedule.

Re: Unique Whips (Tv Show)

Hmmm, I like watching it at times, (I feel Overhauln' is the best show EVER of it's kind), but like Lowflyn said, they usually concentrate on wheels and audio and detailing, the cars always come out looking VERY clean! I don't love it, but find myself watching it at times when I'm flipping through the channels, but they could be a lot more impressive IMO.

Re: Unique Whips (Tv Show)

he ran out of business for a reason in the 80's people didn't like him then, I don't see why they like him now?

Re: Unique Whips (Tv Show)

The earlier shows were somewhat entertaining. I think most of the time Willie doesn't know what he's talking about. Remy is cool but that's about it. I don't get how they can charge what they charge. I don't watch it as much anymore.

its that type of market. he sells his shop to big names with big bank accounts, customers who think spending the extra $10k to say Unique Autosports did his install is worth more than some no-name shop doing the install. this market allows for a huge profit margin, you sell the parts for double the cost, sell your labor as being the best in the business, say it takes 2 guys 2 days to do the install when in reality it too 1 guy 4 hours, and you forward that labor number into the final price. and your client el doesnt mind as they have millions in their bank, so 20k$ for some rims, a head unit and speakers is chump change.
