Any roller coaster fans? I rode a SWEET coaster today

I rode Sheikra today at Busch Gardens in Tampa. That thing is AWESOME. Its tied with Goliath at 6 Flags over GA for tallest coaster in the southeast. It features:

-200 foot 47° lift hill
-200 foot 90° drop
-145 foot tall Immelmann
-138 foot 81° drop
-floorless with "stadium" seating so everyone gets a full view of the drop
-70mph top speed

I ****ing love coasters.

Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain here in Valencia is my favorite coaster of all time. Followed by Scream and then Top Gun at Paramounts Great America.

Re: Any roller coaster fans? I rode a SWEET coaster today

Goliath was my favorite, I loved how it accelerates you up the first hill, but I think this may be my new favorite. Busch Gardens doesn't have many coasters, but the coasters they do have are pretty bad, oh, and they have beer, lots and lots of beer.

Re: Any roller coaster fans? I rode a SWEET coaster today

Your Goliath is a little different than ours then if you get accelerated up the first hill. ours is the standard pulley that pulls you to the peak, then drops 255' (its 230' from top of peak to ground but you go 25' under into a cave and pop out the back). does yours slingshot you out of the station or something?

i cant wait to try Tatsu (you lay down inverted, or "Fly") and X2 (cars have seats to the side that rotate on an axis). im also a big fan of the switchback coasters, IE you go one way, then you go back the same direction only now your car is in reverse (depending on how you sat when you got on).

i so want to go to Cedar Point one day.

Yeah, the first climb is through a tunnel that it slingshots you up then flips upside-down and drops right through the tunnel. Ours is shorter-only 200 feet, but still very fun.

I love this one...the Scorcher at Six Flags.

Georgia Scorcher (Six Flags Over Georgia)

Georgia Scorcher (Six Flags Over Georgia)

Georgia Scorcher (Six Flags Over Georgia)

The last is a stand up coaster.

im sure they do that alot though, engineer one type/style of coaster and track layout, name it 10 different things and just do small variances for each, the park buys it and just adds landscape and a theme and calls it a day.

Re: Any roller coaster fans? I rode a SWEET coaster today

I prefer the old wooden roller coasters more than anything, although...I haven't come across one yet I didn't like.

I take that back, liberty land in memphis has some suck *** coasters.

But let's see, my favorites...

Texas Giant - rode this when i was 8, freakin awesome coaster.
Space Mountain - roller coaster in the pitch black is pretty cool.
And I now can't remember the names of any of the others.

I hate them.. well maybe its the 2-3hr line you must stand in, and the last time I went it started to rain in the middle of the ride and it hurt like hell...

Kings Island (Cincinnati, Ohio) this is the big one in the midwest to go to.

Thats why I always hit the Florida theme parks during the week day in late fall or early spring. In October we went to Islands of Adventure and Universal studios on a Monday; we rode every ride in each park twice. We got there at 10 and were done by 3:30. Pretty much the same thing at Busch Gardens yesterday, but we only rode rides in the morning since we went to the beer tasting in the afternoon.

At Six Flags I always pay the extra $25 for the "Fast Pass". It is completely worth it. We had a group of 5 and rode 23 coasters in one day, on a Saturday in July. Most lines were 3 or 4 hours long and our longest was 15 minutes.

And Brad, wood coasters are the suck. They rattle your damn fillings out.

Re: Any roller coaster fans? I rode a SWEET coaster today

you either have to get there when it opens and run to every coaster you can before the lines pile up, or wait till after like 5ish PM when people start to leave the park for the lines to die down. if you go on a weekday its usually alot slower, so morning and night you can do extreme coaster'ing, just go to one ride and ride it continually like 5 times and move on.

most coasters are better at night anyways.

Riding straight through is awesome on coasters. I used to do like Jimmy and hit them up in the week. You get back around and yell to keep going and they just let you roll on through unless someone is waiting to get on.

I think my record on that so far is 5 times without stopping.
