Gun Advice

Ok so I am looking at getting a hand gun soon, possibly by the weekend. I want something under $400, less expensive the better. revolver or auto, it doesn't matter. So, suggestions?

agreed.

I'll try to get you a pic of my revolver. It's a Taurus .357/.38 snub nose, with 6 ported holes near the front sites. Kicks like a 9mm. very nice.

Early afternoon. Figure around 1:00pm-2:00pm time range. I tried to call you last Saturday and let you know, but you didn't answer your phone. You should listen to your voicemail...

Y'all wanna go ahead and designate Sunday as a rainout day? Weather.com shows a 40% chance of rain on Saturday.

Re: Gun Advice

I own a Smith & Wesson Sigma in 9mm 16 in the magazine plus 1 in the chamber for a total of 17. I carry it daily had it for nearly a year now with no jams or issues at all. Cost 325.00 at Bass Pro in Kodiac, Tn dont regret it and I know everyone whom owns em doesnt complain. About the size of Glock 19 and half the price I have heard they are selling for 200.00 to 250.00 in some places...

Re: Gun Advice

I am looking at the Taurus PT111 Millinieums in more then likely a 9mm. I like it. Nice and compact, good form for my hand, feels real good.

Fired a Taurus .357 revolver (3" barrel iirc) nice revolver. I like my Beretta. Feels good, shoots straight. I dont care for Glocks. Dont like the way they fit my hands. Same with the H&K USP .40 I fired. Smooth pistol but a squared off grip through me off. I would like to get a 1911A1 though.

Re: Gun Advice

Definitely take some time and shoot a few different guns to get a feel for what you want. I've come across several pistols that just don't feel comfortable in my hand whereas other makes in the same size fit just fine.

Re: Gun Advice

for less than 400 get a revolver!!!! if you want a good auto spend the cash, go see ed kacklehoffer at larry's pistol and pawn, tell him that mike from ADS sent you in, he'll take care of you.

BTW, I personally am looking at a 357sig, sig sauer, 40, 45 all sig sauer, or possibly an H&K 40, 45. the M&P line from smith and wesson aren't bad if your conservative on the cash, but you can easily tell the step down in quality, great gun still, much lighter than the other two, I like glock very well too.

one model of any such brand of gun is not equal to another of the same brand.

BTW a revolver will never jam, if you go auto get quality.

Re: Gun Advice

I cary a Para Ordnance 1911 SSP .45 and love it. It's very smooth in operation and has the anvil-like simplicity that has made the .45 famous. It is very accurate at 25 yards but is at it's best as a close range personal protection cannon. The suggested retail on them is a bit over 700.00 but I paid less than 500.00 for mine, new. The down side is they are heavy. My next purchase will be another Para in the smaller .45 carry size in 10+1.
Here's a picture of the full size I carry now and what will probably be my next purchase.
